πŸ’ͺ PROTEIN INTAKE AWARENESS SESSION | HEALTH ADDA HOSPITALS ECIL

On 26 August 2026, Health Adda Hospitals, ECIL, conducted an awareness session on Protein Intake, led by Dr. ANV Koteswara Rao.

The session focused on an important question:

"How much protein does our body really need?"

Dr. Rao addressed common misconceptions surrounding protein consumption and explained the importance of choosing appropriate protein sources.

🌱 Vegetarian sources: Pulses, dal, beans, soy, paneer, milk, curd, nuts and seeds.

🍳 Non-vegetarian sources: Eggs, fish and lean meats.

The important takeaway:

Protein requirements are not the same for everyone. Age, activity level, health conditions and individual nutritional requirements all matter.

Let's make nutrition decisions based on awarenessβ€”not myths. 🫢

Humidity, wet footwear and seasonal infections can make diabetes management more challenging during the rainy season.

Watch for:

βœ” Itchy or cracked skin

βœ” Foot injuries

βœ” Fungal infections

βœ” High blood sugar during illness

Daily foot inspection, proper skin hygiene and regular glucose monitoring can help prevent complications.

Are you using your inhaler correctly?

Many asthma and COPD patients don't receive the full benefit of their inhaler because of incorrect technique. In this video, Dr. ANV Koteswara Rao, Senior Physician & Pulmonologist at Health Adda Hospitals, explains why inhalers are effective and demonstrates the correct way to use a metered-dose inhaler.

Why inhalers are beneficial

Small amount of medicine goes directly to the lungs.

Faster relief where it's needed most.

Less medicine circulates through the rest of the body compared with oral medicines.

Helps control asthma and COPD when used as prescribed by your doctor.

Correct inhaler technique

Shake the inhaler well.

Breathe out fully.

Seal your lips around the mouthpiece.

Start breathing in slowly while pressing the inhaler once.

Continue inhaling slowly.

Hold your breath for about 10 seconds before breathing out slowly.

Use your inhaler for the duration and dosage recommended by your doctor. If you're using a steroid inhaler, rinse your mouth afterward to help reduce the risk of throat irritation or oral thrush.

Asthma or COPD? Here's the Difference! 🫁

Many people believe COPD only affects smokersβ€”that's a myth.

Asthma

Triggered by allergies, dust, pollution, weather changes, or certain medicines.

Symptoms are often reversible with proper treatment.

COPD

Not limited to smokers.

Air pollution, workplace dust, and harmful fumes can also increase the risk.

More common after 40 years, though it can develop earlier.

The airflow limitation is generally not fully reversible.

🦟 Dengue vs Viral Fever: Know the Difference

During the rainy season, many people experience feverβ€”but not every fever is dengue.

Early symptoms may look similar, so persistent high fever, severe body pain, rash or warning signs should never be ignored.

Protect your family by preventing mosquito breeding and seeking timely medical evaluation when symptoms worsen.

Prevention starts at home:

βœ” Safe drinking water

βœ”οΈ Wheezing
βœ”οΈ Chest tightness
βœ”οΈ Breathlessness
βœ”οΈ Recurrent respiratory infections

If symptoms are severe, persistent or getting worse, don't simply assume they are caused by the weather.
