Fact-check : Putting oil on your baby's head is a beautiful, traditional way to bond and moisturize their skin. But despite what grandma might say, it won't speed up the closing of the fontanelle!

The skull bones fuse entirely based on your baby's genetics, nutrition, health and brain growth timeline (usually between 9-18 months). Pushing hard or aggressively massaging oil into the area won't change that—and can actually be unsafe.

Keep up the gentle oil massages for hair health, but let nature do the rest! ❤️

Complementary Feeding Insights from Dr. Ravali, Shankarpally pediatrician.

Golden Rules:

1. Start with one new food at a time , watch for rash/allergy
2. No added salt , sugar , honey till 1 year
3. Avoid force feeding, Give small frequent meals
4. Include Iron rich foods from the beginning
5. Avoid Packed food/Junk food( biscuit, choclate,chips etc)

Milk stays main till 1 year. Food = “complementary”, not replacement.
Target by 1 year: Family pot feeding (2-3 meals) + 1-2 snacks + breastmilk on demand

Myth: Cold unnapudu vaccine eyodhu
Fact Check: Symptoms like mild cold, cough, fever , loose stools are not contra indications for vaccination.

However, a child with moderate to severe illness(High fever, severe diarhoea) requiring hospitalisation should not be vaccinated during the acute phase.

RELAX and WAIT for 3 days if your child's fever comes down with paracetomol and
1. Active/playful during interfebrile period
2. ⁠Feeding well
3. ⁠Passing Urine normally
