In a major public health milestone, the Government of India is launching a nationwide drive to provide the HPV vaccine free of cost to 14-year-old girls.
This life-saving initiative aims to eliminate cervical cancer—the second most common cancer among Indian women—by protecting girls before they are exposed to the virus.
Protecting Our Daughters:
Under the Swastha Nari Mission, the government will provide the quadrivalent Gardasil vaccine (which protects against HPV types 16, 18, 6, and 11).
The drive specifically targets 14-year-old girls because research shows that a single dose at this age provides the strongest, most durable immune protection.
While a single dose can cost between ₹4,000 and ₹10,850 in private hospitals, it will now be completely free at government facilities.
Simple & Accessible: Parents can register their daughters on the U-WIN portal (similar to the Co-WIN platform) to book appointments at nearby Ayushman Arogya Mandirs or government health centres.
Why It Matters
Every year, India reports nearly 80,000 new cases and over 42,000 deaths from cervical cancer. This preventable disease takes a life every eight minutes in our country.
By participating in this voluntary drive, you are choosing a future where your daughter is safe from a major health threat.
Let's get aware, act today, and ensure a cancer-free future for our girls!
