“How many ultrasounds are needed during pregnancy?”

Ultrasound is not just a picture of your baby—it helps us monitor the baby’s development and your pregnancy.

1️⃣ Early Pregnancy Ultrasound
“To confirm the location of pregnancy, heartbeat, and gestational age.”

2️⃣ NT Scan — 11 to 13+6 weeks
“To assess early fetal development and screen for chromosomal abnormalities.”

3️⃣ Anomaly Scan — 18 to 22 weeks
“One of the most important scans to examine the baby’s brain, heart, spine, kidneys, and other organs in detail.”

4️⃣ Growth Scan — usually after 28 weeks, if needed
“To check the baby’s growth, amniotic fluid, and placenta.”

5️⃣ Doppler — when required
“Especially in high-risk pregnancies or when there is concern about the baby’s growth or blood flow.”

A simple method to monitor baby’s movements at home.
Fetal movements generally become more consistent from around 28 weeks
Lie on your left side and, after breakfast, lunch, and dinner, rest for 1 hour while feeling and counting your baby’s movements.

If you notice reduced fetal movements, contact your doctor immediately.
