Satudi – stacked totem
The light totem sits between art and product design — a piece that is both functional and experiential. Inspired by the Indian outdoor game ‘Satudi’, based on the balancing and re-stacking of stones, the totem is conceptualised as a modular form with the possibility of multiple design iterations. Crafted in marble, wood, alabaster, and metal, each variation develops a distinct character while celebrating balance, adaptability, and material exploration.

Designed and conceptualised by the Company of design in collaboration with Smartlight India.

Satudi | Stacked totem

Each modular form can be crafted in different materials, such as marble, wood, alabaster, and metal - where each variation can be developed with a distinct character, allowing for endless possible iterations.
Developed as a series of wooden prototypes, the miniature modules allow individual elements to be stacked, rearranged, and recombined into multiple configurations.

The open-ended system allows different individuals to compose forms according to their own aesthetic preferences.

Every project begins with a question.

This one started while designing a partition composed of vertical poles and stacked geometric wooden modules. As the system evolved, we found ourselves asking: Could every totem have its own character while still belonging to the same family?

What began as a question became a sketch, and soon a series of prototypes—exploring how different materials could come together as a simple kit of geometric forms to create endless possibilities.

Stacked Totem - done in collaboration with Smartlight ( ) was presented at Elev8, Bangalore.

Excited to see ‘Orchard house’ featured in VolumeZero.!

Sitting on the edge of Kaveri river, this house is a part of a development scheme, resting on a land filled with Mango and Chickoo trees. The Site houses two built structures, which are discovered as you follow a meandering walkway through the landscape filled with pauses and chance encounters.
