A milestone for Hydra™ TAVI in Myanmar

We are pleased to mark the successful completion of the first two Hydra™ TAVI cases at Yangon General Hospital, Myanmar, an important milestone in advancing transcatheter aortic valve therapy in the country.

Both cases involved challenging heavily calcified bicuspid aortic valve anatomy extending into the LVOT, requiring a high degree of clinical expertise, precision and collaboration.

The procedures achieved encouraging clinical outcomes:

Case 1 – Bicuspid AOV Type 0: No residual gradient and no paravalvular leak (PVL)

Case 2 – Bicuspid AOV Type 1: 7 mmHg gradient with mild PVL

Our congratulations and appreciation to Prof. Nguyễn Lân Hiếu, Dr. Phạm Nhật Minh and Lê Minh Ngọc for their expert proctorship and guidance through these complex cases.

We also congratulate Prof. Nwe Nwe and the entire Heart Team at Yangon General Hospital on the successful procedures and this important beginning.

Milestones such as these demonstrate what can be achieved through clinical expertise, knowledge sharing and strong collaboration.

We are pleased to share that on June 20, 2026, the first TAVI procedure using the HYDRA system in Indonesia was performed at Rumah Sakit Medistra Hospital Jakarta. The TAVI – HYDRA procedure was highly successful, with optimal hemodynamic outcomes and no vascular complications

The procedure was led by Prof. Santoso Teguh as the primary operator, with Dr. Sunanto Ng serving as co-operator, supported by the cathlab team at Rumah Sakit Medistra.

We were also privileged to have Dr. Anmol Sonawane, Breach Candy hospital, Mumbai, join as proctor and share his clinical experience. The procedure was further supported by Mr. Grit Chanpitak from Thailand and the SMT India team, whose coordination contributed to the successful ex*****on of the case.

This milestone reflects the importance of clinical collaboration, physician education, and knowledge exchange across geographies in the field of structural heart interventions.

Sahajanand Medical Technologies - Vascular Innovations was honoured to showcase its flagship Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) system to the Hon’ble Minister of Public Health, Royal Thai Government, Mr. Pattana Promphat, at the Central Chest Institute of Thailand (CCIT), the country’s premier referral centre for cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases. The visit, attended by the Institute’s leadership and SMT representatives, reflected a shared commitment to advancing cardiovascular care across Thailand and the ASEAN region.

The Hon’ble Minister was introduced to , SMT’s self-expanding, repositionable, and retrievable TAVI system, researched and manufactured by SMT Vascular Innovations in Thailand. Following a live demonstration by the SMT team, he appreciated the technology’s innovation and reiterated the Royal Thai Government’s commitment to expanding patient access to TAVI/TAVR through the public health reimbursement system. He also recognised SMT’s contribution to strengthening Thailand’s position as the ASEAN region’s healthcare manufacturing hub for advanced transcatheter heart valve technology.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at CSI Frankfurt 2026.
