Transformation Story @ GPH's MindCare Clinics
A 43-year-old male medical doctor diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder being treated for the past 13 years with Allopathic medicine, with limited relief, presented with suicidal thoughts, panic attacks, episodes of self-harm (has history of self mutilation) due to extreme guilt, disturbed sleep, phases of depressive mood with hypomania, delusions, cognitive decline (confusion, memory impairment, decreased mental processing - possible adverse effects of antipsychotics) affecting professional efficiency, with extreme flat affect & monotonal speech, social anxiety & traits of OCPD.
He was being treated with the following Allopathic polypharmacy:
1. Rexipra - SSRI escilatopram - antidepressant
2. Nexluma (Lumeperone) 2nd generation antipsychotic for Bipolar Disorder
3. Relicalm (trifluoperazine+trihexyphenidyl) phenothiazine as anxiolytic
4. Lamitor OD 100 (Lamitrigine) anti-epileptic used for Bipolar Disorder
5. Provanol Forte (clonazepam a benzodiazepine anxiolytic used for Bipolar mania with propranolol a beta antagonist used as anxiolytic)
6. Skizoril (clozapine - atypical antipsychotic)
We used Yukti-Satvavajaya in the first phase of therapy that included:
1. Panchakarma
2. CBT & DBT
3. Gut-healing synbiotic-rich *Satvik Diet*
4. PMR.......that helped the patient with significant clinical improvement (check attached image)
In the second phase of treatment, we now have started:
1. Ayurvedic oral medications
2. Ongoing talk therapy involving the family
3. Social Integration with professional skill enhancement for improved efficiency at work
