eauty expert Shahnaz Husain gives you tips to get rid of them.

The skin around the eyes is very delicate and thinner than most other areas of the face. It has no oil glands and has a fine texture. This area requires special care and reflects neglect, abuse, aging, stress, internal health and lifestyle very easily. In fact, dark circles around the eyes can also develop due to hereditary factors, lack of sleep, illness, stress and nutritional deficiencies. Therefore, along with external treatment, it is advisable to take these aspects into consideration in order to establish the cause and bring about the necessary changes.

Dark circles can develop at an early age, like adolescence and early 20s, although it is more common in older people. This is due to the causes discussed above. The way to prevent dark circles is to have a nutritious and balanced diet, including fresh fruits, salads, yogurt and sprouts in your daily diet, along with unprocessed cereals, skimmed milk, cottage cheese (paneer), lentils and beans.

Daily exercise, along with deep breathing, helps blood circulation, oxygenation and control of stress. Adequate sleep and relaxation are very important.

Gentle movements and a light touch are essential while handling the area, to remove make up or apply creams. It is better not to massage the area, so that the skin does not get pulled or stretched in any way.

Any massage of the area should be done during a professional facial, so that correct techniques are employed. A cleansing gel or cream should be used to remove make-up, using moist cotton wool. Gels and creams help to dissolve make up and grime and thus facilitate their removal.

A cream which has been specially formulated for the area around the eyes should be applied. Heavy creams are not suitable. It should be a cream with a light texture and consistency. The cream should be removed with a moist cotton wool after 10 minutes. Cream should never be left on the area around the eyes during the night. Normal facial masks should not be applied around the eyes. An under-eye cream, containing almond, is good, as it not only nourishes the skin, but has a lightening effect on the colour tone, if used over a period of time. Facial masks are usually not applied around the eyes.

Eye fatigue can also be relived with washing. Wash your eyes with warm water and follow this with cold water. This improves blood circulation to the eyes and soothes them. It also cleanses the eyes and relieves congestion.

Some home remedies can be used to minimise dark circles, brighten the eyes and reduce fatigue:

- Cucumber juice is a common remedy. It should be applied daily around eyes and washed off with plain water after 15 minutes.

- Mixing potato juice with cucumber juice in equal quantities helps if there is puffiness along with dark circles. Follow the same procedure.

- Dark circles can also be treated by mixing cucumber juice with lemon juice in equal quantities. Apply daily and wash off with water after 15 minutes.

- Tomato juice is also said to lighten skin colour.

(5 Natural tips to prevent…)
It's better to use natural products to stop hairfall than to go in for expensive parlour treatments, that may not help the problem.

Try the following easy tips at home and see how effective they are in reducing hair loss!

1. Hot oil treatments: Take any natural oil - olive, coconut, canola - and heat it up so that it is warm, but not too hot. Massage it gently into your scalp. Put on a shower cap and leave it on for an hour, then shampoo your hair.

2. Natural juices: You can rub your scalp with either garlic juice, onion juice or ginger juice. Leave it on overnight and wash it thoroughly in the morning.

3. Get a head massage: Massaging your scalp for a few minutes daily will help stimulate circulation. Good circulation in the scalp keeps hair follicles active. Circulation may be improved through massage by using a few drops of lavender or bay essential oil in an almond or sesame oil base.

4. Antioxidants: Apply warm green tea (two bags brewed in one cup of water) on your scalp and leave this mixture on for an hour and then rinse. Green tea contains antioxidants which prevent hair loss and boost hair growth.

5. Practice meditation: Believe it or not, most of the times, the root cause for hair loss is stress and tension. Meditation can help in reducing that and restore hormonal balance.

10 BEST EMERGENCY HOME REMEDIES FOR PIMPLES!

10 Best Emergency Home Remedies for Pimples!

Everyone has felt that utter horror when you notice that you’ve got a pimple, and somehow it’s always on the day before an important casting or even worse on the day of a shoot…
When it's too late to run to the stores, you should try one of my top 10 best home remedies (or try all of them if you're really desperate:D). Below you'll find a list that can get rid of that awful pimple.

1. ICE CUBES

Ice cubes will shrink the redness and inflammation of a pimple and make it less noticeable.

2. TOOTHPASTE

Apply a very small amount of toothpaste on the pimple before you go to bed, and when you wake up it should have drastically reduced in size.

3. GARLIC

This is one of the most smelliest acne home remedies that I've ever known, so people don't choose this remedy if your next day emergency is a first date:D!
If you rub raw garlic on and around the problem areas several times a day, you can clear up your skin. You may also eat three seeds of raw garlic once a day for a month to see results. The garlic seeds purify the blood, which help keeping pimples away.

4. ORANGE PEEL

After orange peels are pounded and combined with water to a paste, apply it only to the affected area and watch the results!

5. HONEY

Honey has antimicrobial properties, so it’s especially great for acne prone skin types.
Dab a small amount of honey on the pimple as soon as the head becomes visible. Put a band-aid on it, and go to sleep. When you wake up, it’ll be gone! Don't forget to moisturize afterwards!

6. OATMEAL

Cook some oatmeal and apply it, when it's cool enough, to the face. Lay down and leave it on for about fifteen minutes and then wash it off. The swelling and the redness should be gone and the pimple should be visibly reduced! This oatmeal mask is soothing, effective, and not irritating!

7. LEMON

Overnight apply a bit of fresh lemon juice to the pimple to reduce its size and intensity. Wash it off with water the next morning. Use this home remedy only if your skin is not sensitive.

8. VINEGAR

Put a very small amount of vinegar in a pan, as it could sting otherwise, and let it boil. If you have sensitive skin, boil some water in a pan and add a bit of vinegar. Put your face over the pan for about 5 minutes.

9. POTATO

Slice a raw potato and place it on top of your pimple. Leave it for five to seven minutes. It helps with healing as well as reducing the swelling and inflammation of the pimple.

10. CUCUMBER

Try applying grated cucumber over the face and neck for the treatment of pimples and blackheads. This process should only take 15-20 minutes of your time. You can also ad 2-3 teaspoons of lemon juice to the grated cucumber and mix it until you'll have a paste and apply it on the affected area.

EMERGENCY TIP: EYE DROPS

It's not really a "home remedy" but in case you have a bottle laying around, this is a very effective emergency treatment!
Refreshing eye drops, especially Visine, will reduce the redness and swelling of the pimple, which is perfect if you are already out and have a real emergency! Then cover the pimple with a bit concealer if necessary.
