*IAPSM Kerala Chapter Holds First State Conference at SUTAMS*
Thiruvananthapuram, November 8:
The Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine (IAPSM) Kerala Chapter held its First Annual State Conference at SUT Academy of Medical Sciences (SUTAMS), Vattappara, on November 7 and 8, themed “Health Beyond Binaries and Borders – Risk to Resilience.”
The conference was inaugurated by Shri G.R. Anil, Hon’ble Minister for Food and Civil Supplies, Government of Kerala. Dr. Rajan N. Khobragade, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary (Health), delivered the keynote address. Dr. Jayalakshmi, Dean, SUTAMS, presided over the function.
Dr. Krishnakumar M.K., Organizing Chairperson and State President, welcomed the gathering, and Dr. Minu Mohan, State Secretary, delivered the secretary’s address. National leaders Dr. Ashok Bhardwaj (National President, IAPSM) and Dr. Manish Kumar Singh (Secretary General) attended, along with South Zone Executive Members Dr. Muhammed G.M. and Dr. J. Anaippan. Dr. Greshma C. Nair, Organizing Secretary and South Zone Executive Member, proposed the vote of thanks.
Pre-conference CMEs were held from November 3–6 across Kerala: Travancore MedCity, Kollam (Nutrition and Food Security), CDS, Thycaud (Role of Media in Public Health), SMCSI, Karakonam (Survival Analysis), and ATELC, Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram (Palliative Care).
A highlight of the academic program was the AI Workshop on Dissertation Writing using PayPal, conducted on November 7 by Dr. Sharon Baisil, Lead Faculty in Artificial Intelligence Workshops among Community Medicine specialists.
Over 50 scientific papers and 20 posters were presented during the two-day event. The conference concluded with awards for best presentations and valedictory ceremony.
