Feeding should not feel like a daily battle for parents or children.
This National Nutrition Week, Dr. Amrutha Venkateswaran, Consultant - Paediatrics, Curis Hospitals, Trichy, explains why force-feeding can make mealtimes stressful and why responsive feeding matters.

Weaning is about helping a child slowly become familiar with food, texture, and routine. From mashed foods at 6 months to finger foods and suitable family foods by around 12 months, the transition should be gradual and child-friendly.
Some days they may eat well. Some days they may eat less. Don’t count every spoon. Build healthy feeding habits with patience.
For child nutrition guidance and paediatric care, visit Curis Hospitals, Trichy.

PCOS can feel scary because the word “cyst” makes many women imagine something bigger and more dangerous than it usually is.
A global consensus has renamed PCOS as PMOS, Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome, to reflect that it is not just an ovarian condition, but also involves hormonal and metabolic health.
In this video, Dr Buvani Anu Rekha N., Consultant - Obstetrics & Gynaecology, explains why this name shift matters. The message is simple: PCOS/PMOS needs whole-body care, not just o***y-focused treatment. Cycles, hormones, weight, skin, fertility, insulin resistance, and metabolic health all need attention.
If you have irregular periods, acne, excess hair growth, weight concerns, or fertility doubts, don’t panic. Get evaluated early and choose the right care.

Does your child regularly sleep with their mouth open?
Persistent mouth breathing may happen when the nose or airway is blocked due to enlarged adenoids or tonsils, nasal allergies, or ongoing congestion.
Regular snoring, restless sleep, dry mouth, gasping, or pauses in breathing should not be ignored. Poor sleep may also leave your child tired, irritable, or unable to focus during the day.
Instead of treating it as just a habit, understand what may be causing it.
Consult our ENT Experts at Curis Hospitals, Trichy.

We often explain away tiredness as a long week, recurring pain as bad posture, or an unusual change as “nothing serious.”
Most of the time, it may not be. But when something stays, keeps returning, or simply does not feel normal, it deserves attention. A timely consultation can help identify the reason or offer the reassurance you need.
Your body may not send a notification. But it does communicate.
Pause. Pay attention. Get persistent changes checked.

A cancer diagnosis can bring more than questions about treatment. It can bring fear, uncertainty and, sometimes, misconceptions from the people around us.

For this patient, the journey began with hand pain and conflicting advice. What followed was a diagnosis that worried her family, but also a care journey that helped her regain confidence, movement and independence.

She also encountered a belief that still isolates many people with cancer: that cancer can spread from one person to another.

Cancer is not contagious. You cannot catch it by touching, visiting, eating with or simply being around someone with cancer. What a person facing cancer needs is not distance, but informed care, reassurance and support.

Watch her share her journey with Dr. K. N. Srinivasan, Senior Consultant and Medical Director, Radiation Oncology and Nuclear Medicine, Curis Hospitals, Trichy.

Cancer risk does not always look like a warning sign.
Sometimes, it is in the air we breathe, the food and alcohol we normalise, the weight we ignore, the infections we do not test for, or the family history we never discuss.

Globally, nearly 4 in 10 new cancer cases are linked to preventable causes, which means awareness is not about fear. It is about knowing what can be changed, what can be checked, and what should not be delayed.

Understand your body, know your family history, choose timely screening, and take the right steps early.
