Collaborative Outcomes study on Health and Functioning during Infection Times (COH-FIT- India)
As on July 1, 2020 we have 1,01,86, 375 (1 crore 2 lakhs) (10.2 million) individuals had confirmed COVID-19 infection, with 5,02,984 (0.5million) COVID-19-related deaths worldwide. In India, we have nearly 6 lakhs cases and 17, 400 deaths. Besides death and medical complications, the infection itself, isolation, and economic implications have detrimental effects on physical and mental health.
Large scale evidence is needed to inform stakeholders’ responsibility and direct resource allocation to minimize the acute and long-term impact of infection-related restrictions on physical and mental health. COH-FIT study aims to collect in 3 independent waves >100,000 responses to the COH-FIT questionnaire and disseminated to the general population in more than 30 countries across 5 continents affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, >140 collaborators confirmed participation.
• Three independent survey waves are planned, the first during the COVID-19 pandemic, the second 6 months and the third 12 months after the World Health Organization declares the COVID-19 pandemic to be over.
• We will collect anonymous data from adults, adolescents, and children (>5 years) consenting to take the survey.
• Strategies to collect national representative samples will be our aim.
• The website (www.coh.fit.com) will host the link to the survey
• The COH-FIT study will identify groups of subjects at higher risk for poor health
• COH-FIT results will identify people in greater need of care (e.g., people suffering from physical or mental disorders, health workers, people who lost their job due to COVID-19, children/adolescents, elderly), and will monitor the persistence of poor outcomes over the year after the COVID-19 pandemic.
