Kayakalp External Assessment Conducted at Tura Civil Hospital

Today, 25th June 2026, Tura Civil Hospital underwent the Kayakalp External Assessment as part of the Government of India's initiative to promote excellence in public healthcare facilities.

The assessment was carried out by Dr. Sengjan R. Marak, District Tuberculosis Officer, and Dr. Lobingwell Sangma, District Malaria Officer, South Garo Hills, who meticulously evaluated various aspects of the hospital including cleanliness, hygiene, infection prevention and control practices, biomedical waste management, support services, and overall patient care environment.

The Kayakalp Programme, launched by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, aims to encourage public health facilities to adopt and maintain high standards of sanitation, hygiene, infection control, and quality healthcare services. Through regular assessments and recognition of best practices, the programme promotes a culture of continuous improvement and patient safety in healthcare institutions.

Tura Civil Hospital was honoured and privileged to host the students and faculty of the B.Sc. Food, Nutrition and Dietetics programme, College of Community Science, Central Agricultural University (CAU), Sangsanggre, Tura, on their educational visit today, 24th June 2026.

During their visit, the students had the opportunity to observe the hospital's dietetics services, dietary management procedures, patient counselling practices, and the integration of nutrition care within the healthcare delivery system. The group also visited the Hemodialysis Centre to gain insights into the nutritional and clinical aspects of dialysis patient care.
