Pre-Celebration of World Blood Donor Day 2026
The Department of Transfusion Medicine, Dr. B. Borooah Cancer Institute, Guwahati, commemorated World Blood Donor Day 2026 under this year's theme:
"One Drop of Humanity. Give Blood. Save Lives."
We were honoured to have Dr. Pankaj Kaul, Chairperson, Assam Allied and Healthcare Council, Directorate of Medical Education, Assam, as the Chief Guest, and Dr. Dipankar Baruah, Professor In-charge, Blood Centre, Gauhati Medical College & Hospital, as the Guest of Honour. Their inspiring addresses highlighted the vital role of voluntary blood donation in saving lives and strengthening the healthcare system.
A special highlight of the programme was the felicitation of voluntary blood donors and voluntary blood donation camp organizers, in recognition of their selfless commitment, unwavering support, and invaluable contribution towards ensuring the availability of safe blood for patients in need. Their dedication continues to inspire many others to come forward and become regular voluntary blood donors.
The event brought together healthcare professionals, students, voluntary blood donors, and members of the community in a shared commitment to promoting voluntary blood donation and raising awareness about the importance of safe blood transfusion.
