The AI Healthcare Revolution 🚀

Artificial intelligence is no longer a futuristic theory—it’s actively changing how we diagnose, plan, and execute care in real time.

In Part 1 of this 7-part series, we’re breaking down how machine learning and intelligent algorithms are shifting the medical landscape from reactive treatment to high-precision care.

Key takeaways:
⚡️ Early Diagnostics: Pattern recognition catching subtle anomalies faster than ever.
⚡️ Real-Time Data: Intelligent decision support systems inside the OR.
⚡️ The Human Element: Why AI is designed to augment clinical judgment, not replace it.
The goal isn’t to take the human out of medicine—it’s to give doctors sharper tools to make safer, faster decisions when seconds count.

There is a certain elegance in knowing that you don’t have to announce yourself.

A well-cut jacket. A quiet afternoon. A beautiful machine. A little sunlight. And the confidence to simply be present.

Luxury, to me, is less about what surrounds you and more about how comfortably you carry yourself within it.

Style is personal. Presence is everything.

The surgeon who refuses to stay inside the operating room.

A scalpel can change one life.

Knowledge can change thousands.

That belief has shaped my journey from paediatric surgery and urology into the wider worlds of robotic surgery, artificial intelligence, medical education, research and writing.

I have always believed that being a surgeon is not simply about operating.

It is about knowing when to operate.

Knowing when not to.

Explaining difficult things simply.

Teaching the next generation.

Embracing technology without losing humanity.

And never losing curiosity.

In 2026, I had the privilege of participating in the NBEMS educational livestream on Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare, which achieved a Guinness World Records-recognized milestone with 17,999 viewers on YouTube.

For me, that moment represented something bigger than a record.

It represented medicine looking towards its future.

My Dailyhunt profile explores the journey — from the smallest patients and the most delicate operations to robotics, AI, research, books and the music that continues to shape the person behind the surgeon.

Because the operating theatre may be where surgery happens.
But the real journey happens everywhere else.

From tiny instruments to giant paperwork and the real meaning of an ‘emergency’ call... 😂 Welcome to 24 hours in the high-stakes, highly caffeinated world of a pediatric surgeon.

This painfully accurate medical drama parody captures the essence of the job: precision in the OR, endless parent messages (“Is this normal?”), and of course, teaching the residents the single most important rule of the appendix. It’s all in a day’s work when you have very small patients and a very large love for what you do. 🙏 Let’s hear it for the real-life superheroes!

Who else can relate to the paperwork ratio? 📝☕️

Surgery shapes precision, but purpose gives direction. 🩺

Beyond the theatre, we have the power to solve complex problems and build a legacy that lasts.

I am trying to leverage expertise as an educator, author, speaker, and advocate. What impact will you make? Let’s use our surgical superpowers for more. 💪

We’ve covered the diagnosis, symptoms, and the crucial surgical treatment for Intestinal Atresia. Now, we wrap up our five-part series with the question every parent asks: What is the long-term outlook for my baby? 🤔

The great news is that for most babies, the long-term prognosis after successful surgery is excellent! 🌟 They grow up to live full, healthy, normal lives.

However, long-term follow-up care with your pediatric surgery team is essential. We will monitor:

✅ Growth and nutrition (to ensure the reconnected intestine is absorbing properly).
✅ Bowel function.
✅ Overall development.

In complex cases or if a large section of the bowel had to be removed, ongoing management for things like Short Bowel Syndrome might be needed, but again, modern pediatric care has made incredible strides in managing this.

The journey can be challenging, but there is so much hope! 💙

Thank you for following along with this series. Please SHARE this final post to help raise awareness for neonatal health. Follow Dr Vivek Viswanathan | Paediatric Urologist & Surgeon, Vadodara for more educational content!

Some honours are received.
Some are felt.

Deeply honoured to be conferred the

🏆 “Distinguished Paediatric Urologist and Paediatric Surgeon of the Year”

under The Grand Honours Award 2026, presented by the Eudoxia Foundation, India. Dr Vivek Viswanathan (2).pdf

Behind every title are countless moments that never appear on a certificate—

A child waiting outside the operating room.
A parent’s anxious questions.
A difficult operation.
A long night.
A small recovery that feels like a huge victory.
A trainee learning something for the first time.

That is what paediatric surgery means to me.

Skill matters.
Science matters.
Innovation matters.
But humanity matters most.

Grateful to every child and family who has trusted me, to my mentors and colleagues, and to the teams who make good surgery possible.

This honour is appreciated.

But it is also a reminder:

Keep learning.
Keep improving.
Keep serving.

🙏
