Blue Lagoon Iceland

Blue Lagoon Iceland Welcome to one of 25 wonders of the world
(81153)

Named in 2012 as one of National Geographic's “25 Wonders of the World," Blue Lagoon has evolved from its infancy as a reservoir of geothermal runoff into a world of geothermal wonder. The unique properties of its waters provide not only an enchanting lagoon experience, but also the patented, active ingredients in Blue Lagoon skin care: silica, algae, and minerals. Blue Lagoon is located in a spra

wling, 800 year old lava field in the heart of the Reykjanes Peninsula – a UNESCO Geopark. Just 20 minutes from Keflavík International Airport and 50 minutes from Reykjavík, Blue Lagoon is simultaneously remote and easily accessible.

How to get to the Blue Lagoon?💧
Everything you need in one place. Where we are, how to get here, the bus, the airport, and where to leave your bags.

- Where we are
Close enough to be your first stop. Far enough to feel like another world. We sit on the Reykjanes Peninsula, about 20 minutes from Keflavík Airport and 50 minutes from Reykjavík.

- From the airport
Hourly pickups at the main terminal, with several departures a day, timed around your arrival.

- By bus
We'll bring you here and back. Destination Blue Lagoon, our transport partner, makes round-trip departures from Reykjavík and the airport.

- Make us your first stop
Leave your bags in secure storage and slip into the warm water, and let the flight fall away before the rest of Iceland begins.

Some wonders you have to imagine. This one you can step into.

From 2,000 meters underground, our geothermal seawater begins its journey. It rises through lava carrying silica, algae, and minerals, the elements that give the lagoon its healing powers. The water finally reaches the surface at a comfortable 38°C.

This unique composition is found nowhere else on earth. That's why National Geographic named it one of 25 Wonders of the World.

Total solar eclipse from the Blue Lagoon, today. 🌑

We can’t wait to spend the eclipse with you! 🌑

Tomorrow, we experience one of nature's rarest moments from Blue Lagoon.

For the first time since 1954, a total solar eclipse will cross Iceland, and we're right in the path of totality. We won't see another here until 2196.
For a brief moment, the moon completely covers the sun and daylight fades.

The water remains. Everything above it changes.

The white mask everyone asks about.
Our silica mud mask is included with every Blue Lagoon admission, waiting for you at the Mask Bar. Rich in natural minerals, it cleanses deeply and leaves your skin glowing.

In four days, a total solar eclipse will pass over Iceland, and we'll be taking it all in from the warmth of geothermal waters.
Will you be here?

We're open from 07:00 to 23:00 every day until August 20. There's something magical about those early and late hours—the light shifts, the world slows down, and it all feels a little more peaceful. ✨ What time is your favorite—bright mornings, slow afternoons, or golden evenings?

Ever wondered why the Blue Lagoon has its iconic milky-blue color? It's all thanks to silica, one of the lagoon's natural elements. When suspended in water, silica reflects only the blue wavelengths of visible light, absorbing the rest. That's what gives our water its stunning blue hue, known worldwide! 💙
