I have been knitting since I was a kid. Natural fibers at my fingertips. Having to rip out knitting projects because I messed up or was learning. The kind of creating that takes time. My friends let me help shear 12 sheep and get to be apart of the wool process. I had lanolin under my nails and wool in my hair and I was completely and totally happy!!! Haha. There’s something about touching the thing at its source, the fiber before it becomes the yarn before it becomes a scarf or the beanie or the sweater, that completely reset something in me. We are often so far from the origin of most things in our lives and the ranch brought me back to this wisdom and connection.

A small homepage to Miss Santa Fe, you turn 14 today, although I believe your soul to be centuries old. Thank you for finding me in this life. I am grateful to continue to learn from you and have your spirit walk beside me and keep me on track. For those who have lost the physical form of their soulmate animal, this one is for you. May you continue to connect with their spirit and honor them and feel the gratitude even in the gutting grief of their physical absence. May we all be so lucky to be loved so unconditionally by such a wise soul. She was not just an animal in my life, she changed me and carved me into much of who the person I am today. I love you more than I could ever express. Forever Fe.
