UpSurgeOn is a cadaver-free simulation-based platform for psychomotor surgical skill enhancement using virtual and physical simulations.

It is currently focused on microsurgeries (neurosurgery, plastic surgery, ENT surgery, maxillofacial surgery, and spine surgery). The team is made up of Neurosurgeons, Residents, Medical Students, Digital Artists, Developers, Bioengineers, Graphic Designers, and Free-thinkers. UpSurgeOn was founded in 2017 by two neurosurgeons, Dr. Federico Nicolosi (Founder and CEO) and Dr. Giannantonio Spena (Co

-founder), and is headquartered in Milan, Italy. UpSurgeOn has been supported by the EIC (European Innovation Council) through the Horizon 2020 program (grant n 880895).

When developing new features, we always ask ourselves one question: will this help surgeons learn better?

That question led us to develop Real-Time Telemetry for our Spine Deformity simulator.

During a correction, every maneuver has an impact on the spine. Understanding that impact while the procedure is taking place can make a real difference during training.

With Real-Time Telemetry, surgeons can monitor parameters such as vertebral derotation, Cobb angle, and length recovery in real time. Educators also have objective data to guide discussions and provide more targeted feedback.
