Upsurgeon

UpSurgeOn is a cadaver-free simulation-based platform for psychomotor surgical skill enhancement using virtual and physical simulations.

It is currently focused on microsurgeries (neurosurgery, plastic surgery, ENT surgery, maxillofacial surgery, and spine surgery). The team is made up of Neurosurgeons, Residents, Medical Students, Digital Artists, Developers, Bioengineers, Graphic Designers, and Free-thinkers. UpSurgeOn was founded in 2017 by two neurosurgeons, Dr. Federico Nicolosi (Founder and CEO) and Dr. Giannantonio Spena (Co-founder), and is headquartered in Milan, Italy. UpSurgeOn has been supported by the EIC (European Innovation Council) through the Horizon 2020 program (grant n 880895).

AMCICO 2026: Wrap-up from Cancún, México! 🇲🇽👋

The annual congress of the Asociación Mexicana de Cirujanos de Columna (AMCICO) at the AVA Resort Cancún was a blast! From September 11 to 14, four intense days were dedicated to innovation, bringing life-like simulation technologies to the heart of spine surgery training.

A huge thank you to our official distributor, Artimedica. It was a pleasure to see so many neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons, and spine specialists visit the booth to experience UpSurgeOn technology firsthand!

UpSurgeOn in Serbia! 🇷🇸

Four years of supporting the Serbian Neurosurgical Society Congress have made one thing undeniably clear: meaningful global impact only happens when you find the right partners.

This year’s 12th edition was particularly special.

After four years of hands-on courses spanning microsurgery, neuroendoscopy and pediatric neurosurgery, this year we had the privilege of running a dedicated Brain Tumor Surgery Course.

Beyond experiencing the warmth of Serbia, watching mentors break down the mental barriers that often hold future surgeons back was profoundly inspiring.

A heartfelt thank you to the visionary Prof. Lukas Rasulić and his team for their continued trust, invitation, and flawless organization.

Deep gratitude also to Prof. Giuseppe Maria Della Pepa and to Dr. Federico Nicolosi for combining surgical guidance with genuine inspiration for the next generation of neurosurgeons.

When developing new features, we always ask ourselves one question: will this help surgeons learn better?

That question led us to develop Real-Time Telemetry for our Spine Deformity simulator.

During a correction, every maneuver has an impact on the spine. Understanding that impact while the procedure is taking place can make a real difference during training.

With Real-Time Telemetry, surgeons can monitor parameters such as vertebral derotation, Cobb angle, and length recovery in real time. Educators also have objective data to guide discussions and provide more targeted feedback.
