🙌 As comes to a close, we look back on three inspiring days in Bologna filled with cutting-edge science, lively discussions, and valuable exchanges among colleagues from around the world.

From advances in IBS pathophysiology and Rome V developments to emerging insights into microbiota, nutrition, brain–gut interactions, and future therapeutic strategies, the meeting showcased the remarkable progress being made across the field.

A heartfelt thank you to our outstanding faculty, presenters, sponsors, partners, and all participants whose contributions made this edition of IBS Days such a success.

🙌 The scientific programme of began with the Rome Foundation Symposium, chaired by Vincenzo Stanghellini and Jan Tack.

The session highlighted key developments shaping the future of IBS and disorders of gut–brain interaction, including updates on Rome Foundation activities, recent insights into IBS pathophysiology, the new Rome V criteria, and centrally mediated disorders of gastrointestinal pain.

Many thanks to Jan Tack, Madhusudan Grover, Anthony Lembo, and Qasim Aziz for sharing their expertise and perspectives with the IBS Days community.

IBS Days 2026 officially opens with a special ceremony bringing together leaders from the University of Bologna and IRCCS Policlinico di Sant’Orsola, including Congress Chair Giovanni Barbara and Scientific Committee Chair Vincenzo Stanghellini.

The programme continues with an inspiring Inaugural Lecture by Andrea Segrè on the relationship between food waste and the right to food, before participants gather at the Welcome Reception to connect, exchange ideas, and celebrate the start of Hashtag .

We look forward to welcoming the international IBS community to Bologna!
