Find something beautiful, put it underneath my voice, done.
Except I kept finding tracks that were lovely on their own โ and not quite right underneath a specific practice.
Something that worked beautifully for grounding didn't belong in a moment of coming back into energy. Sometimes the music was doing too much. Sometimes it filled a space I actually wanted to leave empty.
So I stopped asking,
And started asking,
That question changed the way I'm building the Regulation Ritual.
And somewhere along the way, I've discovered how much I actually enjoy this part.
I've been experimenting with recording my own flute, playing with different sounds, putting things together, taking them apart again, and listening to what changes when I leave less in rather than adding more.
Sometimes I'll record something I love, listen back and hear tension in my own breath that I hadn't noticed while I was playing. So I try it again. Other times a few simple notes land exactly where I wanted them to, and I know immediately:
I still use sounds from libraries when they're right. The point isn't to make everything myself.
It's that nothing goes in just because it sounds nice.
My voice, my flute, a bowl, a sound I didn't record โ I keep coming back to the same question:
This week's blog is probably the most behind-the-scenes thing I've shared so far โ about the sound underneath the words, and why I'm paying so much attention to something you may barely notice when you listen.
