In veterinary echocardiography, innovation matters most when it enhances the reliability of clinical decision-making.

In dogs, transmitral flow assessment in PW Doppler can be one of the most time-consuming parts of the exam, especially when E and A wave measurements need to be consistent, reproducible, and less affected by variability linked to manual observation.

AI-based automatic measurement can support this step by detecting E and A waves and calculating diastolic parameters in real time. Its role goes beyond speed: it helps standardize E/A ratio assessment, reduce inter-observer variability, and support a clearer interpretation of diastolic filling patterns.

This support does not replace the clinician’s eye. It enhances the workflow around it, allowing more focus on diagnostic reasoning and on turning Doppler data into meaningful clinical insight.

Veterinary emergency and critical care is a field in which clinical expertise, speed of assessment, and access to reliable information must work together.

EVECC 2026 offers the opportunity to explore these dimensions through three days of scientific exchange, practical insights, and discussions among more than 1,000 veterinary professionals from over 50 countries.

By taking part in this key European gathering, we contribute to a shared conversation on how innovation in diagnostic imaging can support clinical decision-making in urgent and complex scenarios. From agile portable systems to advanced premium platforms, ultrasound is increasingly becoming part of a more responsive approach to emergency care, helping to bring diagnostic confidence closer to the patient, wherever it is needed most.

📆 June 4–6
📍 Edinburgh International Conference Centre
📌 Booth No. 25

Join us in Edinburgh to explore how ultrasound innovation, clinical expertise, and shared knowledge can support the continued progress of veterinary emergency and critical care.

What potential benefits do you see in integrating Virtual Navigator into daily veterinary diagnostics?

According to Dr. Federica Rossi, DVM, SRV, Dipl. ECVDI, image fusion with Virtual Navigator is redefining clinical practice. By combining CT dataset with real-time ultrasound, clinicians can detect lesions, such as liver nodules, with greater accuracy and guide biopsies and fine-needle aspirations with high precision.

This integrated approach enhances diagnostic confidence and supports more informed clinical decisions, improving patient care.

Join the webinar “The O-scan Vet Revolution: real clinical cases transforming care at Atlantia Veterinary Hospital” for a case-focused session on the role of compact MRI in veterinary imaging.

Dr. François Lafuma, DVM, Dipl. ECVDI, will share his experience implementing O-scan Vet at Centre Hospitalier Vétérinaire Atlantia, where space and infrastructure had previously limited access to advanced imaging.

Through real clinical cases, the session will explore how dedicated veterinary protocols, high-resolution MRI, and streamlined workflows can support more confident diagnosis and informed case management.

Meet the Expert | Case 3 – 2026 Edition

An ophthalmology and internal medicine case highlights the crucial role of diagnostic imaging in canine patients: monocytic ehrlichiosis leading to anterior uveitis and acute blindness.

Suzy, a 10-year-old male Shih Tzu, presented with phthisis bulbi in the right eye and hyphema with anterior uveitis in the left eye. Clinical examination revealed a negative menace response, dazzle reflex, and pupillary light reflex. Blood tests showed anemia and thrombocytopenia, pointing to a systemic condition requiring further diagnostic investigation through ocular ultrasound.

In this episode, Dr. Arnon Chumcomlue, of the Ophthalmology Clinic at Arnon Pet Hospital, Chiang Rai, discusses how B‑Mode ocular ultrasound supports the identification of intraocular lesions when ocular opacity precludes direct visualization, guiding diagnostic interpretation and clinical management in a complex canine patient.

What advice would you give to clinics looking to enhance or expand their diagnostic imaging capabilities?

According to Dr. Dieter Malleczek, Veterinary Surgeon at Blue Oasis Veterinary Clinic in Dubai (UAE), expanding diagnostic imaging capabilities is a gradual clinical journey built on solid and reliable foundations.

In small animal practice, X-ray and ultrasound remain essential tools, providing the first level of insight needed to support many clinical decisions.

From there, progress comes through a continuous balance between technology and expertise: better equipment, dedicated training, and experience developed through daily practice.

This step-by-step approach enables clinics to evolve with confidence toward more advanced diagnostic modalities, such as MRI.
