🩺 Scientific Publication of the Month – June

With more pulmonary lesions being detected than ever before, choosing the right diagnostic approach has become increasingly important.

In this month's episode, Prof. Felix Herth discusses a recent study comparing robotic-assisted bronchoscopy with virtual bronchoscopic navigation.

- Does the newest technology always offer the best solution?
- How should lesion characteristics influence procedural choice?
- And what factors matter most when balancing performance, safety, and cost?

Only a few days to go until the first live episode of FellowScope on 7 May.

This new Pulmonology on Air initiative gives fellows in interventional pulmonology a global stage to present the cases they have performed, share the challenges they encountered, and engage in open educational discussion.

In this episode, we will also feature a case from Thoraxklinik Heidelberg, Germany, where Dr. Eldridge Limen will present a complex case of endobronchial valve implantation, highlighting multimodal evaluation and clinical outcomes in a challenging scenario.

We created FellowScope because the future of the field depends on creating space for emerging physicians to learn, connect, and be seen.

We look forward to welcoming you to the first episode.

FellowScope goes live on 7 May.

This is the first episode of a new Pulmonology on Air stream dedicated to fellows in interventional pulmonology — a space where real clinical experience takes the lead. Fellows present the cases they have performed, talk through their decision-making, and share practical learning with a global audience of peers and faculty.

For fellows, it’s about visibility and growth.
For the wider community, it’s about learning directly from real-world clinical experience in the making.

In the first episode, we will feature a case from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, USA, where Dr. Abdullah Jahangir will present the minimally invasive treatment of cavitary pulmonary aspergilloma using a novel combined bronchoscopic approach.

Real cases. Honest discussion. Global learning.

🩺 Scientific Publication of the Month – Episode 15

Pulmonary nodules are being detected more frequently than ever — but choosing the right diagnostic approach remains a challenge.

Is it about accuracy?
Safety?
Or finding the right balance between both?

In this episode, Prof. Felix Herth discusses a recent study comparing two commonly used biopsy techniques — and what this could mean for daily practice.

🔦 Our first FellowScope case spotlight comes from India.

Join us as we feature a Foreign Body Extraction case presented by the team from Yashoda Hospitals, India.

Presented by Dr. B.K. Vasudha and Dr. Wangbor Sungoh, this session will explore the clinical scenario, procedural approach, challenges faced, and key learning points from a real interventional pulmonology case.

FellowScope was created to give fellows and emerging physicians a global stage to share real experiences, practical insights, and grow through discussion with an international audience.

Be part of the first live FellowScope episode on May 7th.

What is FellowScope?
FellowScope is a new educational stream from Pulmonology on Air where fellows present interventional cases they have performed and discuss:
✔ the clinical context
✔ the procedure
✔ the challenges they faced
✔what they learned
✔ how the case helped shape their development

It is designed to create a global stage for fellows while giving the wider community an opportunity to learn from real-world cases and honest discussion.

Not just a presentation. A platform for progression.

In medicine, growth does not come only from presenting polished success.

It also comes from discussing:
- difficult decisions
- technical challenges
- uncertainty
- lessons learned in real practice

That is why we created FellowScope.
A new Pulmonology on Air stream where fellows can present real interventional cases, reflect on their challenges, and learn in front of a global audience.
Because the future of interventional pulmonology depends not only on expertise, but on the willingness of the next generation to step forward, share, and grow.
