📱 Recovery doesn't stop after surgery - and neither does patient support.

Successful recovery depends not only on surgery, but also on structured rehabilitation and continuous guidance from healthcare professionals.
To support this process, Videoreha, a partner in the ENCANTO project, has developed a dedicated digital rehabilitation platform for patients participating in the clinical study.

The rehabilitation programme begins on the first day after surgery and guides patients through each stage of recovery with personalised exercise plans. Every exercise is accompanied by clear video and audio instructions, available in the languages of all participating clinical centres. Healthcare professionals can also monitor patient progress remotely and provide support throughout the rehabilitation journey.

By linking the clinical centre, rehabilitation providers and the patient within one digital pathway, the platform helps maintain a clear and continuous rehabilitation process beyond the hospital stay.

🦵 ENCANTO clinical study reaches an important milestone!!

The ENCANTO clinical study continues to move forward! Since the first patient was enrolled in August 2025 and the first surgical procedure was performed in October 2025, more than 20 patients have already been treated and are being followed according to the study protocol.

To date, no serious adverse reactions have been reported among study participants. While it is still too early to draw conclusions about the treatment's efficacy, this marks an important milestone in the project's progress.

📢 Patient recruitment is still ongoing. If you are interested in participating in the study, please visit the For Patients section of the ENCANTO website to find your nearest participating clinical centre and learn more about the eligibility criteria.

🤝 Welcome to our new ENCANTO partner!

The ENCANTO consortium is pleased to welcome Maastricht University Medical Center (MUMC+), the Netherlands, as a new clinical partner.

With extensive expertise in joint-preserving orthopaedic treatments, cartilage repair, and clinical research, MUMC+ will further strengthen the consortium's clinical capacity as the project progresses. Their experienced clinical teams, strong track record in cartilage repair studies, and access to advanced 7 Tesla MRI technology will support patient recruitment and contribute to the evaluation of N-TEC treatment outcomes.

At the same time, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to Theracell Advanced Biotechnology Ltd (Greece) for its valuable contribution to the project. Following an internal strategic reorientation, the company concluded its participation in ENCANTO, and we thank the Theracell team for their collaboration and expertise.

We look forward to working together with our new partner as we continue advancing innovative regenerative therapies for patellofemoral osteoarthritis.

The Orthopaedic Bridge Workshop – Knee Osteoarthritis: From Regenerative Medicine to Prosthetic Innovation successfully took place on July 3rd, 2026 in Reggio Calabria, Italy, bringing together Italian and international experts to discuss the latest advances in knee osteoarthritis treatment.

Throughout the day, participants explored topics ranging from regenerative medicine and cartilage repair to robotic surgery, artificial intelligence, and personalised rehabilitation pathways. The workshop highlighted how interdisciplinary research and innovation are shaping the future of patient care and improving outcomes for people living with knee osteoarthritis.

Organised by Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma and Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Campus Bio-Medico, the event reflected a shared commitment to translating scientific research into clinical practice.

The workshop was organised within the framework of the project ENCANTO for advancing research and regenerative therapies for patellofemoral osteoarthritis by developing an innovative approach based on autologous nasal cartilage cells and N-TEC technology.

A sincere thank you to all speakers, participants, and organisers for their valuable contributions and engaging discussions. Events such as this strengthen collaboration between researchers, clinicians, and innovators, helping to advance regenerative medicine and improve future treatment options.

👃 🦵 ENCANTO General Assembly – Reggio Calabria, Italy

The ENCANTO consortium gathered in Reggio Calabria last week for our 5th General Assembly.
The meeting brought together project partners from across Europe to review the progress achieved so far, exchange updates from the clinical and scientific work packages, and align on the next steps as patient recruitment and other project activities continue.
The productive discussions and valuable exchange of knowledge once again highlighted the strong collaboration and shared commitment of all partners to developing an innovative treatment for patellofemoral osteoarthritis using nasal cartilage and N-TEC technology.
A sincere thank you to our hosts in Reggio Calabria and to all consortium members for their valuable contributions, enthusiasm, and continued dedication.
We look forward to building on this momentum and reaching the next project milestones together!
