From devastating trauma to innovative reconstruction.
This Testudo hermanni was attacked by dogs, suffering multiple fractures of the plastron and carapace, along with severe soft tissue injuries and detachment of the pectoral muscles from their normal insertion on the plastron.
Using the Esacrom piezoelectric surgical and medical unit, we were able to perform a complete regenerative and reconstructive approach:
🔹 Ultrasonic Wound Debridement (UWD) to decontaminate the wound, remove necrotic tissue, perform bone curettage and promote bacterial reduction through the antibacterial cavitation effect.
🔹 Piezoelectric bone surgery to smooth and reshape the fractured bone margins while preserving surrounding soft tissues.
🔹 Creation of precise osseous anchorage holes that allowed reattachment of the detached soft tissues and muscles to the newly reconstructed plastron margins.
What makes this technology unique is the ability to seamlessly switch from advanced wound management to highly precise bone surgery using dedicated settings and specialized inserts designed for countless clinical applications.
The versatility of piezoelectric technology continues to redefine what is possible in veterinary surgery.
The only real limit of this technology is our imagination.
