One exercise. Three levels. Endless possibilities. 👏

The goal isn’t to make every exercise harder. The goal is to find the right level of challenge for you.

Whether you’re recovering from an injury, managing pain, returning to activity, or looking to improve strength and confidence in movement, Reformer Pilates can be tailored to meet you where you’re at.
That’s the benefit of a physio-led approach: every exercise has a purpose, and every progression is based on your individual needs and goals.
Because movement should be accessible to everyone.

A common misconception is that Reformer Pilates is only for people who are already fit, flexible or experienced. In reality, one of the greatest benefits of the reformer is that exercises can be adapted to suit almost anyone.

Level 1: Sitting on the box provides more support and stability, allowing you to focus on movement quality and technique.

Level 2: Low kneeling on the carriage increases the challenge by requiring greater balance, core control and postural stability.

Level 3: High kneeling with knee lifts adds dynamic movement, demanding even more strength, coordination and control.

Hi everyone,

My name is James Thornton and I have just finished my 1 year as a Physiotherapy Student at the University of Salford.

Alongside my degree, I have decided to complete a Level 4 Sports Massage course, which I am putting to use for work over the summer.

I have already gained vast experiences from multiple different placements in Jersey and Manchester. That being a MSK and Cardio-Respiratory placement in the Jersey General Hospital. Along with having a shadowed a physiotherapist at a private clinic in Jersey, and finally having already completed a month long community placement with the NHS.

Alongside my Physiotherapy course, in my spare time I like playing football and working on my padel tennis skills.

Pre-operative physiotherapy is important because it helps your body prepare for surgery and recovery afterward. It’s commonly recommended before orthopedic surgeries (like knee, hip, shoulder, or spine operations), but it can also help before abdominal, cardiac, or lung surgery.

Here are the main benefits:
- Better strength and mobility before surgery
- If muscles are already weak or joints are stiff before an operation, recovery is usually slower afterward.

Physiotherapy can improve:
- Muscle strength
- Joint movement
- Balance and coordination
- Walking ability and endurance
- People who go into surgery fitter often regain function faster afterward.
- Faster recovery after surgery

Research shows that prehab can help reduce:
- Time spent in hospital
- Recovery time
- Post-operative complications
- Because you’ve already practiced exercises and movement patterns, it’s easier to restart them after surgery.
- Learning exercises in advance

After surgery you may feel tired, sore, or overwhelmed. Pre-op physio teaches you:
- Safe ways to move
- Breathing exercises
- Walking techniques
- How to use crutches, walkers, or braces
- Post-op exercises
- Learning these beforehand makes recovery smoother.
- Reduced risk of complications

Pre-operative physiotherapy can lower risks such as:
- Chest infections or pneumonia (through breathing exercises)
- Blood clots (by improving circulation and mobility)
- Falls after surgery
- Excessive stiffness or muscle loss
- Pain management

Strengthening surrounding muscles and improving movement before surgery may reduce pain both before and after the operation.

Pre Op rehab will also help with your overall confidence going forward post operation as you will be aware of what to expect after surgery, safe movement techniques and exercises for recovery.
