This week is Action for Brain Injury Week 2026.

And what better way to mark it than with a conversation that truly matters.
This week, our Chief Executive Dr Lisa Perkins sat down with Bailiwick Express, Bailiwick Podcasts alongside Headway Jersey member Justine Boreham and Nadia Applegate, founder of CNS Neuro Physio Rehab & Elderly care to talk openly and honestly about brain injury. What it feels like. What the challenges really are. And what support is available right here in Jersey.

The interview was hosted by Emily Moore, and it is worth every minute of your time.

Brain injury can happen at any age. To anyone. It does not always look the way people expect. And far too many people suffer in silence because they do not know where to go or who to ask.

If you or someone you love has been affected by brain injury, please listen.

Share it with your friends, your colleagues, your family. You never know whose life it might reach.

A huge thank you to Emily Moore for hosting such a warm and thoughtful conversation, to Nadia Applegate for the incredible work CNS Neuro Rehab & Elderly Care does alongside us, and to Justine for sharing her experience so openly and generously. It takes courage to speak publicly about something so personal, and we are grateful.

The interview is available now on Bailiwick Podcasts. Find the link below.

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week.

At Headway Jersey, we want to take a moment to acknowledge every one of our members.

Living with a brain injury is hard.

The changes it brings, to who you are, how you feel, and how you move through the world, can feel overwhelming.

Mental health struggles after brain injury are real, and they are valid.

But so is your strength.

Every day you show up, that matters. Every small step forward counts. You are not alone in this.

To everyone in our community: we see you. We are here. And we are proud to walk alongside you.

This Mental Health Awareness Week, we are taking action.
For our members.
For brain injury awareness.
For better support, every single day.

Small tokens. Big difference. 💚

We are absolutely thrilled to share that Headway (Jersey) has received £1,500 through the Waitrose & Partners Community Matters fund.

Every green token dropped into our box at the end of a shop made this possible. It sounds like a small thing, but those tokens add up, and for a charity like ours, £1,500 makes a real and tangible difference to the islanders we support every day.

A huge thank you to everyone in our local community who chose Headway Jersey with their token.

Thank you to Waitrose & Partners for running such a meaningful community programme, and to Trinity Waitrose for giving us the opportunity to be part of it.

We are truly grateful. 💚

Today was a big day for the Headway (Jersey) team.

We completed our My Brain Star training, led by the brilliant Ali Bazley, Headway - the brain injury association - the brain injury association, who made the journey over to Jersey to deliver it in person.

We were also joined by the Headway Guernsey team, Orla-Marie Manning which made it even more special. Two islands, one shared commitment to the people we support.

So what is My Brain Stars?
It is a brain injury-specific keywork and outcomes measurement tool, developed by Headway UK in partnership with Outcomes Star. Outcomes Star is a widely recognised framework used across health and social care to help practitioners support people in a structured, person-centred way.

My Brain Star puts the person at the centre. It looks at all areas of life after brain injury, not just medical recovery. It helps us have honest, open conversations with the people we support, track real progress, and build support plans that actually reflect each person's goals and priorities.

For a small but dedicated team like ours, having this tool is a meaningful step forward in the quality of support we can offer.

We are proud to be doing this work, and grateful to Ali and Headway - the brain injury association for investing the time to come to us.

We’re incredibly grateful to Jersey Electricity for selecting Headway Jersey as the March beneficiary of their employee charity draw. Thanks to the generosity of JE employees, this support will directly help us deliver vital services to Islanders living with brain injury and their families.

The ballot for the 2027 London Marathon is now open, and next year could be extra special. Organisers are hoping to host events on both Saturday and Sunday, which means more places and more chances to get in.

The ballot closes at 4pm this Friday, so don't sit on it.

If you're lucky enough to get a place, we'd love you to run for Headway Jersey. You'll receive our support every step of the way.

We also have a very small number of guaranteed charity places available. They won't last long, so if you want one, get in touch with us now.

And a huge congratulations to everyone who has already run or volunteered for Headway Jersey this year. You make everything we do possible.
