💙Our Legacy Tree 💙

Our legacy tree, located at our Florence Bechelet Clinic in St Peter, stands as a lasting tribute to the generous individuals who have left a gift in their will to FNHC.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone whose legacy has helped strengthen our services and improve the lives of islanders. Their support continues to make a difference every day, ensuring that FNHC can be there for individuals and families when they need us most.

These special gifts help us continue funding services that charitable income makes possible, from specialist nursing teams and mental health support to child safety programmes, vital equipment, staff training, and respite care for families facing difficult circumstances.

💙Equipment and Resources Funded by Charitable Income💙

Charitable income helps us invest in essential equipment and resources that enable our teams to deliver high-quality care and support to islanders, including:

- Baby Scales to monitor and support the healthy growth and development of babies.

- Breast Pumps for a Breast Pump Loan Scheme, making breastfeeding more accessible.

- Doppler to support the work of our Tissue Viability Team in identifying arterial insufficiency.

- Maternal Early Childhood Sustained Home Visiting (MECSH) Resources, providing families with practical tools to develop healthy relationships and communication skills.

Every piece of equipment, every resource, and every project funded through charitable income helps us reach more people, provide better care, and continue supporting islanders at every stage of life.

💛World Su***de Prevention Day 💛
Today we mark World Su***de Prevention Day and reaffirm the importance of mental health, connection, and support.

Together, we can help reduce stigma, encourage open conversations, and remind people that help is available.

Visit our Mental Health Support page for useful helpline numbers and services. Although the page focuses on young people, some resources listed are also available to adults.

💙The Impact of Charitable Income💙

Charitable income, including gifts left in wills, funds specialist nursing teams, including our Falls and Frailty and Tissue Viability teams, who provide expert care and support to some of the island's most vulnerable residents.

Charitable income also enables us to invest in an adult mental health practitioner, deliver our Child Accident Prevention Programme, provide additional respite support for children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, and purchase the essential equipment our teams need to deliver high-quality care.

Gifts in wills help secure the future of these services, enabling us to respond to emerging healthcare needs and continue providing exceptional care and support to future generations of islanders.

💙Leave a Lasting Legacy for Jersey💙

A gift in your will to Family Nursing & Home Care (FNHC) is an opportunity to continue making a difference to islanders long into the future.

During Legacy Week, we are highlighting the lasting impact that gifts in wills have on our community.

💼 Blog 7: Returning to work while breastfeeding: Supporting mothers to continue their feeding journey 🤱

Returning to work is a significant milestone and can bring a mixture of emotions for new parents. For breastfeeding mothers, a common concern is whether returning to work means they must stop breastfeeding. The reassuring news is that many families successfully continue breastfeeding after returning to work with the right support and planning.

Every family's feeding journey is unique. Some mothers choose to express milk at work, while others continue breastfeeding when they are with their baby. There is no single "right" way—what matters most is finding an approach that works for your family.

Preparing ahead can make the transition easier. Talking to your employer, understanding the facilities available for expressing milk, and planning childcare and feeding routines can help build confidence and reduce anxiety. Employers also have a role to play by providing appropriate breaks, private spaces for expressing milk, and support for breastfeeding employees.

Many mothers continue breastfeeding successfully by feeding before and after work, during evenings, overnight, and on days off. These moments not only help maintain milk supply but also provide comfort, connection, and reassurance for both mother and baby.

Returning to work can feel challenging, and it is normal to have worries about balancing work and family life. Seeking support from family, friends, breastfeeding groups, or healthcare professionals can make a real difference during this adjustment period.

Ultimately, returning to work does not have to mark the end of breastfeeding. With understanding, flexibility, and support from employers, families, and healthcare professionals, parents can continue their feeding journey in a way that works best for them. Every family's path is different, and every feeding journey deserves respect and support.
