If I ever respond with a 'What?', it's never meant to be impolite. As someone who grew up using hearing aids and now uses bilateral cochlear implants, I'm passionate about sharing my DHH journey. My goal? To help others feel connected, understood, and supported.
Living as a DHH adult who utilizes amplification means my brain works overtime to process sounds and speech, even with top-notch hearing devices. So, if I'm deep in a task, I might not catch the first few words you say. It's all about shifting focus and energy. Getting my attention before you start talking is a huge help – it makes communication smoother for both of us!
