About Ron and the Studio
At Shiryudoh, we do not create what can be found just anywhere.
We are always exploring designs and expressions that can only be born here, and only through us.
Ron
Ron was born and raised in Tokyo.
While studying archaeology at university, he became drawn to what once existed, to traces of life and the quiet stories left behind by people of the past.
These experiences helped him develop a sensitivity to beauty that is not always visible, but can be deeply felt.
After graduating, he packed everything into a single backpack and set out on a journey.
He wanted to see the world with his own eyes, feel it with his own skin, and connect what he had studied to real, lived experience.
Throughout his travels, he encountered ancient cultures, diverse communities, local colors, smiles, and languages.
The quiet beauty found in each culture became part of the creative language he expresses today.
While in Ubud, Bali, he discovered tattooing.
It was a form of art engraved on the skin, worn close to the heart.
He was captivated and chose to follow that path.
He later continued his studies in Bangkok, Thailand, and eventually returned to Tokyo to open his own studio, which he named Shiryudoh.
The Studio
Shiryudoh is located in Shibamata, Katsushika, a rare part of Tokyo where old townscapes still remain and the Edogawa River flows nearby.
It is one of the few areas in the city that still holds the charm and quiet of a more traditional Tokyo.
The studio is a calm, unique space surrounded by trees and antiques collected from around the world.
We renovated it slowly and carefully by hand, creating a space that reflects the spirit of the art we pursue.
Surrounded by objects that have traveled through time, we strive to create works that will also stand the test of time.
