Dear expectant mothers,
✓Facial swelling.
✓Hands swelling
✓Severe headaches
✓Blurring of visions
✓Epigastric pains/Pain below the breastbone;between your b***s
✓Shortness of breath
✓Nausea/Vomiting
✓Unexplained fatigue
✓Palpitations/ Fast heart rate ......
Incase of any of such symptoms, visit the hospital near you immediately without delay.
Investigations/ What to expect;
1.Obstetric Ultrasound -Checks the fetal doppler for any signs of fetal distress, placenta insufficiency or Intrauterine Growth Restriction (IUGR)
2.Full Haemogram - Checks for your platelets levels.
3.Urine analysis - Checks for proteins; a warning sign.
4.Liver Function Test (LFTs) & Urea Electrolytes & Createnine (UECs) - Checks for any sign of kidney damage or liver issues.
Management depends on;
1. Gestation ( How many weeks pregnant are you?)
2.Severity of the disease.
3.Status of the mother and the child.
All these are not good signs especially when pregnant. They can be a sign of Preeclmapsia(Pregnancy induced hypertension).
Preeclampsia can be fatal if not treated.
Do your ANC clinics follow ups and avoid self medications.
