Dear expectant mothers,
✓Facial swelling.
✓Hands swelling
✓Severe headaches
✓Blurring of visions
✓Epigastric pains/Pain below the breastbone;between your b***s
✓Shortness of breath
✓Nausea/Vomiting
✓Unexplained fatigue
✓Palpitations/ Fast heart rate ......

Incase of any of such symptoms, visit the hospital near you immediately without delay.

Investigations/ What to expect;

1.Obstetric Ultrasound -Checks the fetal doppler for any signs of fetal distress, placenta insufficiency or Intrauterine Growth Restriction (IUGR)

2.Full Haemogram - Checks for your platelets levels.

3.Urine analysis - Checks for proteins; a warning sign.

4.Liver Function Test (LFTs) & Urea Electrolytes & Createnine (UECs) - Checks for any sign of kidney damage or liver issues.

Management depends on;

1. Gestation ( How many weeks pregnant are you?)
2.Severity of the disease.
3.Status of the mother and the child.

All these are not good signs especially when pregnant. They can be a sign of Preeclmapsia(Pregnancy induced hypertension).

Preeclampsia can be fatal if not treated.
Do your ANC clinics follow ups and avoid self medications.

RARE BUT DANGEROUS.‼️
VASOVAGAL SHOCK DUE TO IUCD INSERTION.

Medical professionals and women,have this to learn and remind yourselves.

Vasovagal shock,a sudden drop in heart rate and blood pressure that leads to fainting, dizziness, or even collapse,often triggered by pain, anxiety, or some certain medical procedures, in this context; IUCD insertion.

What Happens in Vasovagal Shock?

When the body experiences pain or stress in instances like during IUCD insertion, the vagus nerve — which helps control heart rate and blood vessel tone overreacts.This overreaction causes heart rate to slow down (bradycardia) and blood vessels to dilate (widen) leading to a sudden drop in blood pressure and reduced blood flow to the brain.As a result,patient suffer fainting, sweating, nausea, or collapse.

During an IUCD insertion where a woman experperiences Vasovagal shock,she can complain of;

✓Sudden dizziness or lightheadedness.
✓Fainting or loss of consciousness
✓Nausea or vomiting.
✓Cold or clammy skin
✓Slow & weak pulse.
✓Low blood pressure(If you take measurements)

This scenario can be caused by pain,stress,anxiety or cervical manipulation during insertion.It happens immediately during insertion or few minutes after the procedure.

It is always self limiting but severe cases can lead to prolonged low blood pressure and cardiac arrest if not handled quickly.

WHAT TO DO INCASE IT HAPPENS(HEALTH PROFESSIONAL)
✓Stop the procedure immediately.
✓Lay the patient flat with the legs elevated,to improve supply blood to the brain.
✓Loosen tight clothings.
✓Monitor pulse and blood pressure.
✓Check Oxygen saturation and give oxygen if need be,and IV fluids.
✓Give atropine if the heart rates are low.

As a patient,incase you notice any of the symptoms mentioned during insertion,inform the one inserting it immediately.

VASOVAGAL SHOCK during IUCD insertion is extremely rare and self limiting BUT if not handled immediately can result to CARDIAC ARREST and possible DEATH.

DO YOU KNOW WHY YOU SUFFER INFECTIONS AFTER PROLONGED SEXUAL EXPOSURE?

Having Pen*s-in-va**na (PIV) s*x can result into nasty infections that are technically not STIs.

This happens because,the pH levels of the semen are higher than the pH of the va**na,which can potentially mess with the growth of the health normal flora of the va**na (Lactobacillus crispatus and Lactobacillus jensenii) which helps defend the va**na against pathogens.

You can prevent this by avoiding regularly regular s*xual in*******se or by use of condoms.

Not every infections deserves treatment.Some infections only needs you to fix your legs for sometime and give time for Lactobacillus spp. to flourish.

No matter how many layers of condoms you use,if you're careless in all those other areas, you're better having it raw than waste yourself in putting on latex.

And since romance is part of the game and you can't avoid it,why don't you do all those things with one right person?Why don't you drink from your own well?Must you sample every specimen?
You might escape HIV but you won't escape other STI and they're threat as well.

Let us look briefly at breast cancer.
Being one of the killer disease,breast cancer has several clinical presentation that includes;.
✓New lump in the breast or armpit.
✓Thickening or swelling of the part of breast.
✓Irritation or dimpling of breast skin.
✓Redness of the skin in the ni**le area or the breast.
✓Pulling in of the ni**le.
✓Pain in the ni**le area.

Now,on the picture attached to this post,look at the skin surrounding the ni**le; look at the ni**le also.The breast skin looks abnormal.This is called skin dimpling or dimpling of the skin.In skin dimpling,the breast skin looks like an orange or lemon. Sometimes, this is what breast cancer looks like. This is known as Peau d'orange, (ORANGE PEEL) and can happen when cancer cells block the lymph drainage of the breast, resulting in fluid accumulation in the breast tissue leading to dimpling.
NB: Cancer is not the only cause of your breast appearing this way but if you see this, PLEASE SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY FOR CHECK UP.
It's breast cancer awareness month. Let your wife, sisters, daughters and female friends know the signs to look for in a breast to make an early detection.
