TINEA FAVOSA

This is a fungal infection of the scalp characterised by crusted yellow with a distinct cheesy smell that when not treated earlier enough results to a permanent scarring allopecia.

OVULATION

Ladies ladies ovulation is not always on Day 14.

This Day 14 thing is mainly associated with a regular 28 day menstrual cycle.

The day of your ovulation depends on the length of your cycle.

Ovulation typically occurs about 14 days before the next menstrual period. So if your cycle is shorter, ovulation may occur earlier.

For example, with a 26 day cycle, ovulation may happen around Day 12 counting from the first day of your last period.

SCHEDULED DOSING AND PROPER DOSING INSTRUCTIONS

After diagnosis the physician will make a prescription based on whats the ailment and the available treatment guidelines mostly these are shorthands worded for the pharmacist to be able to give the desired disage to achieve treatment.

Sig: Take 1 capsule orally every 8 hours for 5 days
Disp: 15 capsules

or more patient-friendly:

Take 1 capsule by mouth three times daily for 5 days

Now with these dispensing modes have evolved that we are now going to a time where its nolonger ONLY the clarity of the instructions but rather the precise compliance.
Some drugs require strict adherence to time so that the pharmacist must now write these exact times as exact as they are.

For example;

Take 2 capsules orally every 8 hours for 5days would simply mean

Take 2 capsules orally at 8am another 2 capsules at 4pm and another 2 capsules at 12 midnight
Everyday for 5days.

Timing will also align with the initial dosing time ( the stat dosing ) such that dosage timing becomes unique with every different patient and dependent only on when they start taking the medication.

This is more practical and leaves no room for mixups or even forgetfullness thats probable with the hourly wording and remains the more accurate dosing timing ever.

Most countries are now proposing and adopting this format and from the look of things we are headed there.
