That’s a wrap on Day 2 of KAPS 2026! 🇰🇪✨

What an extraordinary, high-yield day at the PrideInn Flamingo Beach Resort & Spa in Mombasa! Following our monumental morning opening, the afternoon shifted gears into deeply technical territory, focusing entirely on Gastrointestinal and Colorectal Surgery.

Highlights from the afternoon sessions included:

🔬 Advanced deep-dives into specimen adequacy for Hirschsprung Disease with pathology specialist Dr. Kishor Mandaliya.
🩺 Peer-led panel debates dissecting complex management protocols for anorectal malformations and rare cases like Berdon Syndrome.

What an incredible morning at KAPS 2026! 🇰🇪✨

The Main is officially in full swing at the PrideInn Flamingo Beach Resort & Spa, Mombasa. Our morning was packed with deep academic value and inspiring milestones:

🔹 Surgical Milestones: We kicked off with intense presentations covering advanced General Paediatric Surgery and the rapid evolution of Minimal Access Surgery (Laparoscopy) in our region.
🔹 Official Launch: Dr. Francis Osawa led our grand Opening Ceremony, setting an ambitious, collaborative vision for the future of children's surgical care.
🔹 Keynote Insights: Dr. Stephen Okelo delivered an eye-opening keynote on the stark challenges and strategic ways forward for Paediatric Anaesthesiology in rural setups.
🔹 Living History: We wrapped up the morning with a captivating address by Dr. Safwat Andrawes, reflecting on a legendary 45 years of surgical experience in Kenya!

Wrap-up: Day 1 of KAPS 2026 was a massive success! 🇰🇪✨

After a morning of theory and core concepts, our delegates rolled up their sleeves for the afternoon Hands-On POCUS Rotations! 🩺💻

Thanks to our intensive small-group setup, every single paediatric surgeon got direct, one-on-one time with the ultrasound machines to practice scanning under expert faculty guidance. The energy in the room was incredible as peers mentored peers and sharpened their diagnostic skills right at the point of care.

Day 1 is officially underway in Mombasa! 🇰🇪✨

The morning kicked off with a busy registration desk as delegates arrived at the Coast Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital
Straight after settling in, it was time to dive into the technicalities of the Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) Workshop. Dr. Patricia Othieno led an insightful session breaking down the basics of the ultrasound machine and "knobology", followed closely by Dr. Bernadette Muthee guiding delegates through POCUS in acute and non-trauma settings.

We have officially kicked off Day 1 of the KAPS Annual Scientific Conference 2026 at Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital!

The morning started strong with our Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) Workshop. Delegates have just wrapped up brilliant sessions on ultrasound basics with Dr. Patricia Othieno and acute non-trauma settings with Dr. Bernadette Muthee.
