Neurodiversity and Nutrition π§ π₯
This week, allow me to dig deeper into neurodiverse and neurodevelopmental conditions and their relationship with nutrition. Over time, I have seen how nutrition can play a significant role in supporting the health and well-being of individuals with these conditions, and I have witnessed encouraging testimonies from families and caregivers.
Before discussing nutrition interventions, it is important that we first understand these conditions, including autism, ADHD, and cerebral palsy, and recognize why regular nutrition assessments are important.
Many individuals may appear healthy on the outside, yet still face challenges such as: β
Feeding difficulties
β
Selective eating
β
Swallowing problems
β
Nutrient deficiencies
β
Poor growth or weight concerns
β
Gastrointestinal issues such as constipation or reflux
Good nutrition does not cure neurodevelopmental conditions, but it can support: π± Growth and development
π§ Brain function
𦴠Bone health
π‘οΈ Immunity
π Overall quality of life
Regular assessment helps identify nutritional risks early and ensures that each individual receives support tailored to their unique needs.
Join me this week as we learn more about neurodiverse conditions, common nutrition challenges, and practical ways nutrition can support better health outcomes.
