Today, GOSK, in partnership with AstraZeneca, successfully hosted the Genetics in Oncology Care Symposium, bringing together oncology healthcare professionals for a day of learning, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.

The symposium explored the growing role of genetics and precision oncology in cancer care, with engaging discussions on hereditary cancers, genetic testing, biomarker interpretation, and multidisciplinary approaches to patient management.

We are grateful to our expert speakers, participants, and partners for making this event a success. Together, we are building the knowledge and capacity needed to improve access to precision oncology and genetic services in Kenya.

HELP SHAPE THE FUTURE OF BRCA GENETICS IN CANCER CARE IN KENYA

Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer (HBOC) accounts for 5-10% of all breast and ovarian cancers, with BRCA1/2 mutations being the primary drivers. Access to genetic counselling and testing remains limited across Kenya.

The BRIDGE Study (Bridging Knowledge and Access to Genetic Services) is conducting a national baseline survey to understand current practices, identify gaps, and map opportunities for strengthening BRCA genetic service delivery nationwide.
