WE ARE BUILDING!

For years, SEP has worked alongside children with disabilities and their families through therapy, inclusive education, assistive devices, caregiver support, professional training and community programmes.

Now, we are taking the next step: building a home of our own.

Our Centre of Excellence for Children with Disabilities will bring essential services under one roof therefore creating a safe, accessible and inclusive space where children can access therapy, education support, assistive technology and other vital services.

But we cannot build it alone.

Our SEP Bowling Tournament is helping us raise funds towards the construction of this Centre. We are grateful to our partners who have already stepped forward to support the vision: and

In partnership with Community Organization and Risk Reduction, COTRR-Kenya, SEP held the Murang'a father’s forum 3rd session bringing together fathers of children with disabilities to share experience, encourage one another, and strengthen their role in supporting their children.

The session had positive impact, with mothers reporting increased father involvement, stronger relationship and more consistently taking their children to therapy. Many children have undergone school assessments and been enrolled in school with support from their fathers.

SEP successfully delivered wheelchair inserts to Makueni County, reaching beneficiaries in Nziu and Kalembwani. Our team conducted wheelchair insert fittings for nine beneficiaries, ensuring each device was customized to provide comfort, proper positioning, and improved mobility.

Every assistive device represents an opportunity for greater independence, participation, and dignity. We are grateful to everyone who continues to support our mission of transforming lives through Assistive Technology.

Peer workshops on ADHD and visual and hearing impairments in Kalembwani and Nziu schools.

The SEP team recently held peer awareness workshops at Kalembwani and Nziu Primary Schools, where learners explored ADHD, visual impairment, and hearing impairment.

Through interactive discussions and activities, students gained a better understanding of these disabilities, helping to challenge misconceptions, build empathy, and foster more inclusive classrooms where every child feels seen, supported, and valued.

Consultation at Nyeri

Our therapy intervention consultation in Nyeri brought together children and families for comprehensive support and assessment. The session included disability identification and assessment, measurements for adapted assistive devices, and personalized guidance for parents and caregivers.

The SEP team was able to assess more than 36 children ensuring that they are able to access the tools and opportunities they need to thrive.

This International Day of Play, we celebrate the power of play to help children learn, connect, grow, and belong. Yet for many children with disabilities, barriers in schools and communities can make play inaccessible.

The Inclusive Africa Conference hosted by InABLE is officially underway, and SEP is part of the conversation!

As champions of disability inclusion, we are excited to engage with innovators, policymakers, educators, organizations of persons with disabilities, and technology leaders from across the continent as we explore this year's theme: Accelerating Digital Accessibility and AI Solutions for Africa's Future.

We look forward to learning how digital accessibility, assistive technology, and emerging AI solutions can help create more inclusive opportunities for children and persons with disabilities. We are particularly interested in exploring how technology can strengthen inclusive education, improve access to learning, support early childhood development, and ensure that no child is left behind in Africa's digital future.

Beyond the sessions, we are eager to connect with like-minded organizations, share SEP's work and discover innovative approaches that can advance disability inclusion in communities across Kenya.

Magadi Disability Awareness Day

SEP joined community members in Magadi for a disability awareness and sensitization event on Friday 28th May. The National Council of People with Disabilities joined the event to emphasise the importance of registering children with disabilities. When children with disabilities are registered, they become visible in national statistics, enabling better planning, resource allocation, and access to government programs and services designed to support them and their families.

Through community dialogue and awareness sessions, we encouraged parents, caregivers, and community leaders to understand the benefits of registration and the role each of us plays in ensuring no child is left behind.
