Today’s Saturday Nation feature is a reminder that psoriasis should be an ongoing conversation, not just a topic for awareness days.

Behind every diagnosis is a story of resilience, stigma, misdiagnosis, courage, and hope. Thank you to everyone who shared their stories so openly. Every conversation helps challenge misconceptions, reduce stigma, and bring us closer to a future where people living with psoriatic disease can access timely diagnosis, quality care, and the support they deserve.

The more we talk about psoriasis, the less room there is for stigma and misinformation.

Pick up a copy of today’s Saturday Nation and join the conversation.

The Psoriasis Association of Kenya (PAK) was honored to be represented at a strategic breakfast meeting held during the IFPA Forum Africa. PAK was represented by Dr. Evanson Kamuri, Chairperson of PAK and President of the Kenya Association of Dermatologists (KAD), alongside Hellen Wangui, Secretary of PAK and Vice President of PsorAfrica.

The meeting brought together leadership from IFPA, WHO Kenya, PsorAfrica, and Kenya’s diplomatic representation to Geneva to discuss collaboration, advocacy, awareness, and improving access to care and essential medicines for people living with psoriatic disease across Africa.

We remain committed to ensuring African patient voices continue to shape conversations in healthcare, policy, and global advocacy.

Over the past few days, Nairobi hosted the first ever African IFPA Forum, bringing together patient leaders, healthcare professionals, researchers and advocates from across the continent to speak with one voice on psoriatic disease.

At the Psoriasis Association of Kenya, we are honoured to have hosted these important conversations conversations about delayed diagnosis, lack of specialists, stigma, mental health, access to treatment, and the urgent need for African-led research and policy action.

Psoriasis is not just a skin condition. It affects lives, families, mental health, work, relationships and dignity.

As we are calling for stronger healthcare systems, earlier diagnosis, affordable treatment, more awareness, and a future where no patient in Africa suffers in silence.

From May 7–9, Nairobi had the honor of hosting the first ever African IFPA Forum under the theme “Local Strength, United Action.” 🌍✨

Over the last three days, patients, advocates, healthcare professionals, researchers and policymakers from across Africa and beyond came together to discuss the realities of living with psoriatic disease on the continent from access to treatment and affordability, to stigma, mental health, research, policy, and the urgent need for meaningful patient involvement.

One thing was clear throughout the forum: Africa has powerful local voices, experiences and solutions, and when we work together, we can create stronger systems for people living with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis.

We were especially inspired by conversations around youth inclusion, women’s health, patient led advocacy, local data generation, and collaboration across countries to push for equitable access to care.

As the Psoriasis Association of Kenya (PAK), we are deeply honored to have hosted the very first IFPA Africa Forum here in Nairobi. Thank you to the International Federation of Psoriasis Associations (IFPA) , all partner organizations, speakers, delegates, volunteers and every patient advocate who made this forum impactful, honest and unforgettable.

This is only the beginning for Africa. 🇰🇪🤝🌍

Saturday was a day of learning, connection, and empowerment

We spent time unpacking psoriatic arthritis, understanding the symptoms, the impact, and why early recognition matters.

Most importantly, patients learned how to use the GoodCare checklist to better prepare for clinic visits, ask questions, and take an active role in their care.

Because better conversations lead to better outcomes.

Not just the diagnosis. Not just the prescription.
But whether you were heard, understood, and involved in your care.

For many people living with psoriatic arthritis, that doesn’t always happen, that’s why tools like the GoodCare checklist exist to help you feel more prepared, more confident, and more in control during your appointments.

Because better questions don’t just change conversations…
they change care.
