It takes much more than simply having medicines and health products available.
It takes accurate forecasting, reliable supply chains, quality-assured products, proper inventory management, good data, accountability and most importantly, health workers and managers equipped with the knowledge to make all these systems work.
That conversation is taking centre stage in Kericho County, where over 60 participants from the Central Rift, Nyanza and North Rift regions have come together for the MEDS Kericho Regional Training Forum on Strengthening Health Systems Through Sustainable Management of Essential Health Products and Technologies (EHPTs) at the ACK Grace Conference Centre.
The forum is taking participants through the entire EHPT cycle from forecasting and quantification to procurement, warehousing, inventory management, distribution, appropriate use, monitoring and reporting.
But beyond the processes and systems is the reason all this matters: the patient.
Because a strong health supply chain ultimately means that quality essential health products and technologies are available where they are needed, when they are needed and in the right condition.
Through capacity strengthening, quality assurance, sustainable supply chain and logistics solutions and strategic partnerships, MEDS continues to support health facilities in translating policy and standards into practical solutions that improve service delivery and patient outcomes.
It is all part of building stronger, more resilient health systems and advancing Kenyaโs Universal Health Coverage agenda.
