Dr. Kalebi Labs (DKL) today formalized a strategic partnership with the 𝑨𝒇𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒂 𝑬𝒅𝒖𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑫𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒍𝒐𝒑𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑻𝒓𝒖𝒔𝒕 (AEDT) through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at supporting employee education, skills enhancement, and continuous professional development.

The MoU establishes a framework through which DKL employees and their dependents will have access to interest-free study loans, with repayment facilitated through a structured salary check-off arrangement. The initiative underscores the shared commitment of both organizations to investing in people, fostering lifelong learning, and empowering professionals to achieve their academic and career aspirations.

The Equity Afya delegation, led by Dr. Denis Ogolla (Managing Director), included Leonard Kibet Ngeno (Head of Laboratory Services) and Theresia Mbithe (Quality Assurance). They were received by Dr. Ahmed Kalebi (CEO, Founder & Executive Chairman), Dr. Rabia Mukadam (CTO), Hubeib Ali (HOD Business Development), and Faith Nyawira (Reporting Accountant).

This strategic partnership will see DKL provide referral laboratory services to Equity Afya’s network of over 140 medical centres across all 47 counties in Kenya, strengthening access to specialised diagnostics and enhancing patient care nationwide.

During the visit, the team experienced DKL’s advanced diagnostic technologies, total laboratory automation, molecular and genomic testing platforms, digital workflows, and paperless laboratory ecosystem.

Dr. Kalebi Labs (DKL) continues to strengthen parasitology diagnostics by offering 𝗔𝗴𝗮𝗿 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 (𝗔𝗣𝗖)—a highly sensitive method for detecting 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴𝘆𝗹𝗼𝗶𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀, one of the most frequently underdiagnosed parasitic infections.

Traditional 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗼𝘃𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲 (𝗢&𝗣) 𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗽𝘆 often misses infections because Strongyloides larvae are shed intermittently and in low numbers. As a result, a single routine examination may detect 𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝟯𝟬% 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗵𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, frequently requiring multiple repeated tests to improve diagnostic yield.

Agar Plate Culture (also known as the Koga method) addresses this limitation by allowing viable larvae to migrate across nutrient agar, leaving characteristic tracks that are later identified microscopically.
This biological amplification significantly increases detection rates compared with conventional stool microscopy techniques.
