This is one of the most common fears parents have…..Cerebral Palsy will get worse over time.
But Cerebral Palsy is not a progressive condition. The brain injury does not worsen.

What can change is muscle stiffness and movement especially without consistent therapy and support.
With the right care, children living with Cerebral Palsy can grow, adapt and improve.
Progress may look different for each child,
but it is always possible.

Progress is possible 💙

This is a question many caregivers carry quietly…
"Am I doing enough for my child?"

Caring for a child living with Cerebral Palsy can feel overwhelming.....physically, emotionally and mentally.
There are days filled with progress and days filled with doubt.
But in all of it, one thing remains true: Showing up, trying, learning and loving your child through it all; that is more than enough 💙
You are not alone in this journey.

"Children with Cerebral Palsy cannot communicate."
This is something many people assume that children living with Cerebral Palsy cannot communicate......But that is not true.
Communication does not always look the same for every child.
Some children communicate through sounds,
others through facial expressions, body movement, or assistive devices.
It may look different but it is there 💙

The responsibility is on us to slow down, observe and learn how to understand them.
Because every child deserves to be heard.
Every child has a voice 💙

Behind every child is a caregiver who keeps going even on the hard days, even when it’s exhausting, even when progress feels slow.
And that showing up?
It matters more than we often say.

At Malaika Initiative, we see this strength every day and we walk this journey together with our children and their caregivers 💙
We show up... every day 💙

This is a question many caregivers ask quietly…

How do I help my child sleep better?

Children living with Cerebral Palsy may struggle with discomfort, muscle stiffness or restlessness all of which can affect their sleep.
And when a child doesn’t sleep well, the caregiver doesn’t either.
But with the right support, positioning and guidance, sleep can improve for both child and caregiver 💙
You are not alone in this journey.

As we celebrate this Easter weekend, we are reminded of hope and renewal.

As Christ rose, may we also rise to be kinder,
to be more understanding and to be more inclusive in our everyday lives.
Children living with Cerebral Palsy are part of our communities every day.
So inclusion is not occasional; it is a daily choice.

Wishing you a beautiful and blessed Easter weekend 💙

As we come to the end of Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month, we pause and reflect.
Awareness is important.
But what truly matters is what we do with it.
Do we include?
Do we understand?
Do we support?

Children living with Cerebral Palsy are part of our communities every day.
So the question is not what we learned this month….but what difference we will make going forward.

At Malaika Initiative, this work continues every day 💚

Many people think Cerebral Palsy is rare.
It is not.

Cerebral Palsy is the most common physical disability in childhood affecting millions of children worldwide, many right here in our communities.

At Malaika Initiative, we see and support these children and their caregivers every day 💙

Cerebral Palsy Awareness is not a one-day event.
It is something we can all take part in every single day.

Children living with Cerebral Palsy are part of our communities and every piece of information shared builds:
💙 understanding
💙 inclusion
💙 support
And support doesn’t always have to be big.
It can be:
🎁A pack of diapers
🎁A hug for an exhausted caregiver
🎁A supermarket voucher
🎁Even a bar of soap
These small acts may seem simple….but they make a world of difference to a child and their family.

At Malaika Initiative, we see it every day 💙

Myth vs Fact: Cerebral Palsy 💡
Many people believe that Cerebral Palsy only affects walking.
This is not true.

Cerebral Palsy can affect movement, posture, coordination and in some cases speech and feeding. Every child’s experience is different.

At Malaika Initiative, we support children and caregivers through this journey; one step at a time 💙
