As we conclude the World Breastfeeding Week, the NCRH Nutrition Department successfully scaled up allied clinical and community-based interventions across maternal and child health units. These activities were designed to strengthen lactation support services, optimize neonatal nutrition outcomes, and reinforce evidence-based practices in exclusive breastfeeding promotion. We engaged staff and mothers in a symbolic celebration, including a communal cake-cutting ceremony and structured interactive Q and A sessions. During these sessions, mothers who demonstrated exemplary adherence to recommended breastfeeding practices were recognized and awarded, underscoring the importance of maternal empowerment and peer-led motivation.Our commitment remains steadfast: to dismantle systemic and cultural barriers to breastfeeding, enhance early initiation of lactation, and ensure that infants derive the full immunological, nutritional, and developmental benefits of human milk. By intensifying our efforts, we aim to achieve measurable improvements in exclusive breastfeeding rates, aligning with global targets for maternal and child health.

🕊 DEATH AND FUNERAL ANNOUNCEMENT 🕊

It is with profound sorrow and deep sadness that the Department of Medical Services and Public Health announces the passing of our beloved colleague, Serah Mumbi Gichuki, Principal Registered Clinical Officer II, who served diligently at Nyeri County Referral hospital , particularly at the Youth and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Recovery Centre.

Serah was a dedicated, compassionate, and committed healthcare professional whose service positively impacted countless youths, patients, colleagues, and the community she faithfully served. Her unwavering commitment to quality healthcare and her warm spirit will be dearly missed.

Family, friends, colleagues, and well-wishers are meeting daily from 4:00 p.m. at her home in Karia to offer support and prayers.

The funeral programme is as follows:

🕯 Requiem Mass:Wednesday at Nyeri County Referral Hospital from 3.00 p.m.
🕊 Burial:Friday, 3rd July, at her home in Karia.

On behalf of the County Executive Committee Member, and all staff of the Department of Medical Services and Public Health, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Serah's family, relatives, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.

May the Almighty grant her eternal rest, and may her soul rest in everlasting peace.
