*Diabetes type 1*
This is a type of autoimmune disease in which your immune system attacks the cells that make insulin, a hormone needed to control blood sugar levels.
As a result, your body cannot make insulin and without it, too much sugar stays in your blood. High blood sugar can hurt your eyes, kidneys, nerves, gums and teeth. But the most serious problem caused by diabetes is heart disease.
Common symptoms include being very thirsty, Urinating often, Feeling very hungry and tired all times, Losing weight without trying, sores that heal slowly, Dry and itchy skin, Losing feelings in your feet or tingling in your feet as well as having blurry eyesight.
A routine check on your blood sugar levels is important. Anything above 10 mmol/l should be of concern.
If your random blood sugars are high , a fasting blood sugar can be done plus HBA1C to determine your average blood sugar levels for the last three months.
