Our Co-founder and CEO, Faith Wanjeri, is taking the stage.

This week, Faith joins a powerful lineup of women shaping the future of health innovation across Africa as a panelist at the World Health Summit Regional Meeting 2026 in Nairobi, hosted at the United Nations Office.

She'll be speaking in the session "Designing Power: Women Leading Africa's Health R&D Systems", digging into the real conversations: how women innovators navigate funding gaps, regulatory barriers, and the long road to market access. And how the systems around them need to do better.

Women leading Africa's health future is not a vision; that's what's happening right now.

Today was a big day for Cohort 3 of the Stitch & Knot Hybrid Laparoscopic Suturing Programme. After 2 weeks of dedicated Home-Based Self-Regulated Training (HSRT), our doctors brought that muscle memory to be refined.

The shift from practicing independently at home to today’s guided sessions is where the real breakthroughs happen. With expert feedback and hands-on guidance, those hours of HSRT practice were transformed into precise needle handling and fluid suturing techniques. The doctors also had a session on Maternal Screening by Metropolis Star Lab Kenya, and Anesthesia for MIS by Dr. Esther Kamau

From the insights shared in Dr. Dennis Mureithi ’s lectures to the focused energy at the trainer stations, the progress we saw today was incredible. Every refined movement today is a step closer to making MIS the standard of care, ensuring our patients benefit from faster recoveries and safer surgical outcomes. We can’t wait to see this momentum carry into Workshop 3.

Cohort 3 of the Stitch & Knot: Hybrid Laparoscopic Suturing Programme officially kicked off today, and we couldn't be prouder to welcome another group of exceptional surgeons through our doors. This cohort arrived from across the country: Malindi, Nyeri, Kisii, Wajir, Mandera, Samburu, and Nairobi. Corners of Kenya that remind us exactly who this programme was built for, and why it matters that surgical excellence reaches beyond the capital.

Here's the reality we work against every day: across sub-Saharan Africa, only 0.9% of all surgeries are performed laparoscopically, despite the well-documented benefits of faster recovery, less pain, and better outcomes for patients. The barriers? A lack of equipment, too few trained hands, and a steep learning curve that has kept minimally invasive surgery out of reach for too many.

We built Stitch& Knot under our SurgiEdge Training arm to change that, one surgeon at a time. Over the next 2 months, this cohort of dedicated Ob/Gyns, General Surgeons, and registrars will move from simulation to the operating room, building the precision, muscle memory, and confidence to make laparoscopic suturing second nature. They'll work with our locally developed Endo Bora Pelvic Trainer, access global learning from SAGES and AAGL, and train at a 1:2 trainer-to-trainee ratio that ensures no one is left behind.

To every doctor in Cohort 3, we see your commitment. You chose to show up, to learn, and to grow. That decision will ripple outward to every patient you will ever operate on. Welcome to the family. Let's Make MIS the Norm and Not the Exception.

This Easter, we celebrate the victory of life over death, hope over despair, and healing through Christ.

At The Hem Practice, our purpose is rooted in this truth: that through Him, restoration and forgiveness is possible in every way.

May your heart be filled with joy, your faith renewed, and your spirit strengthened this Easter season.

He has risen indeed.

Today, we remember the ultimate sacrifice (Isaiah 53). Good Friday is a reminder of the depth of God’s love, a love that chose sacrifice so we could receive forgiveness, grace, and redemption.
May this day draw you closer to His love and fill your heart with gratitude and quiet reflection.

If your daughter misses school every month because of pain, do not ignore it.

Severe period pain in adolescence can be an early sign of underlying conditions like endometriosis. Early diagnosis prevents years of damage.

At The Hem Practice, we believe early education and intervention change long-term outcomes.

Let’s raise girls who are heard, not hushed.

From Verona, Italy, and back with deeper skill, sharper insight, and a stronger approach to pelvic pain care.

Through The Hem Practice, six clinicians, including our very own Dr. Dennis Mureithi, have successfully completed the International Advanced Master in Gynaecological Ultrasound – Focus on Endometriosis at the ISSA School, culminating in an intensive practical week in Verona.

Featuring: Dr. Julie Oluoch, Dr. Grace Wanjiku, Dr. Saudiyya Mohamed, Dr. Lillian Kemuma, and Dr. Gideon Kariuki.

This programme was not just a one-week experience.

It was the culmination of a full year of structured online learning, followed by hands-on clinical exposure, observing second-level ultrasound, learning standardized mapping of endometriosis, and understanding how imaging directly informs surgical decisions.

During the practical, participants were embedded in a high-volume European centre, moving between ultrasound clinics and theatre, connecting diagnosis to intervention in real time.

This is part of our broader effort to expand access to specialised skills, so clinicians in our network have the expertise to improve diagnosis, reduce delays in care, and deliver better outcomes for women.

Because better care begins with better diagnosis.
