Big news from The Hem Practice! 🎉

We have officially partnered with Makueni County Government to support the expansion of minimally invasive surgery and specialized women’s health services across the county.

Through this partnership, we will work with local healthcare teams through training, mentorship and technical support, helping strengthen the capacity to provide specialised care closer to home.

For women in Makueni, this means greater access to the care they need without always having to travel long distances for treatment.

We are honoured to join AHF Kenya, Sightsavers International and Jacaranda Health Solutions in supporting efforts to strengthen healthcare services across the county.

Thank you to Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr. and the Makueni County Government for the partnership and trust.

By God's grace, we officially opened the doors to the new SurgiEdge Training Centre and proudly welcomed Cohort 4.

This milestone was more than the opening of a new training space. It was a celebration of growth, purpose, and our unwavering commitment to advancing surgical education. Every detail of this new centre was designed to provide an environment where healthcare professionals can learn, practise, collaborate, and build the skills that ultimately improve patient care.

We are deeply grateful to God for His faithfulness, guidance, and provision throughout this journey. There’s a reason the best in their field never stop learning. ✈️

Our Co- Founder, Dr. Dennis Mureithi, was recently selected to attend the Surgical Data Science Summer School at the Institute of Image-Guided Surgery, IHU Strasbourg, a prestigious and highly competitive program bringing together clinicians and computer scientists from around the world to explore how AI is reshaping the future of surgery.

The program covered the use of AI and computer vision in making surgery safer, AI-driven innovations in health systems, and the design of new surgical processes. Participants were paired, one clinician and one data scientist, and challenged to identify a real problem from their own hospitals and develop a solution together. Dr. Mureithi’s team chose to tackle time wastage in theatre caused by unsynchronized systems, a challenge that many surgical teams know all too well. They did not take home the prize, but they took home something just as valuable: new knowledge, global perspectives, and partnerships that will directly support our mission to make Minimally Invasive Surgery the norm, not the exception.

And because great leaders also know the value of rest and renewal, Dr. Mureithi and our Co-Founder & CEO, Faith Wanjeri, also took time to soak in the beauty of France. 🗼
