Forecasting goes beyond quantifying demand. It enables health programmes to anticipate needs, allocate resources effectively, and respond to change with greater confidence.

Working alongside the Ministry of Health (MOH) and PMO-RALG in Tanzania, inSupply Health, through the JSI-led Supply Chain Technical Support Mechanism (SCTSM) project provided technical support to review and update multi-year forecasts for Neglected Tropical Disease (NTD) commodities through 2029. The exercise resulted in finalized commodity projections for Lymphatic Filariasis, Onchocerciasis, and Soil-Transmitted Helminths, informed by the latest survey data, programme priorities, and funding outlooks.

Combining strong forecasting systems with effective Mass Drug Administration (MDA) coverage helps reduce stock shortages, prevent medicine expiries, and support more equitable distribution of commodities.

Digital forecasting tools and routine inventory visibility continue to strengthen data-driven decision-making and improve NTD commodity security.

What happens when young people can access accurate, judgement-free SRHR information exactly when they need it?

This was one of the conversations inSupply Health contributed to at the 9th RHNK Pan-African AYSRHR Scientific Conference, where we shared lessons from using an AI-powered chatbot to support young women in Kakamega, Nairobi, and Nakuru with information on DMPA-SC self-injection.

Combined with peer support from Youth Champions, the approach is helping address misconceptions, build confidence, and support informed decision-making.

The experience demonstrates the potential of combining digital solutions, self-care approaches, and youth-centred engagement to improve access to information and services.

The ICSPS Technical Summit in Dar Es Salaam (May 18th-22nd, 2026), brought together country teams from Nigeria, Ethiopia, Mozambique, and DRC, alongside partners including JSI , inSupply Health, Clinton Health Access Initiative, UNICEF , World Health Organization (WHO) , and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, to reflect on progress, strengthen collaboration, and align on the future of forecasting and supply planning (FSP) systems strengthening.

As part of the team, inSupply Health was pleased to contribute to discussions and learning exchanges focused on strengthening country-led FSP systems and institutional capacity.

Throughout the summit, country teams reviewed project performance data and key indicators, updated forecasting and supply planning process maps, and participated in Ripple Effects Mapping exercises to reflect on project contributions, systems changes, and broader impact beyond routine implementation metrics.

Key discussions highlighted the importance of FSP reviews, integrated data use for decision-making, stronger governance and coordination mechanisms, and sustainability planning to support long-term institutionalization of FSP practices.

Peer learning, collaboration, and country ownership remain critical to strengthening resilient immunization supply chains and improving vaccine availability.

Our next steps are to deepen accountability and follow through on recommendations to mitigate FSP risks, extend FSP best practices to the subnational level, and leverage SMArT advocacy to secure necessary financial commitments for continuous supply stability.
