A Stanford neuroscientist went through every decent fasting study he could find. His closing line was this: when you eat is as important as what you eat.

The bit that matters for you: in the human trial he cites, men eating inside a set window lost weight without counting a single calorie. No app. No weighing. No tracking. The window did the work.

That's the whole idea behind one good meal a day here. You're not fighting yourself from breakfast to bedtime. The structure decides, so you don't have to.

That's a month of posts. Here's the short version.

AWWW8 is a weight-loss retreat for men who are done starting over. Siem Reap, Cambodia. One good meal a day, training every morning, blokes who get it, and everything else taken care of.

Weight loss is what happens here. It isn't what we promise. What we promise is the structure, the support and the honesty to do it yourself.

If any of this month landed, that's worth a minute: awww8.com

Two, three or four weeks. Your call.

Same structure whichever you pick. One good meal a day, training every morning, recovery, excursions, and a small group of blokes doing it alongside you.

Four weeks is the one we'd point you at. Long enough that the habits stop feeling like a fight.

AWWW8 wasn't dreamed up by a marketing team. Three blokes built it, and it's how they met.

Sam lost 25 kg. David lost 18 kg, after an NT cattle-station upbringing and twenty years building roads. Andrew lost 12 kg in 23 days.

They did the work first. Then they built the thing they wished had existed when they started.

That's the origin story. No lab coats.

Straight up: the weight doesn't fall off in a fortnight. Anyone promising that is lying to you, and you already know it.

What the evidence points to is steady, unglamorous loss. Driven by eating less. Protected by training and protein.

What four weeks gives you is the start. Structure, momentum, and proof you can live like this.

Slow is fine. Slow is rather the point. Even our shortest stay is a launch, not a finish line.

The retreat's four weeks. Home is the rest of your life.

We'd be kidding you if we pretended Cambodia was the hard part.

So you don't fly home and disappear. There's a plan, check-ins, a tracker, and a catch-up every month with blokes who've been exactly where you are in week two back at work.

Most of the work is showing up. That doesn't stop at the airport.

Before you come, we ask about your health. Some blokes we send to their GP first. Some we tell it's not the right time.

That costs us bookings. We do it anyway.

A program with fewer meals and daily training isn't right for everyone, and pretending otherwise would be selling, not looking after you.

If a retreat takes your money without asking a single health question, that should worry you.

How this actually works, start to finish.

1. Answer a few honest questions at awww8.com. Takes a minute.
2. One of us reads it and calls you. A real conversation, not a script.
3. We work out together whether it's a fit. Both ways. We tell some men it's not.
4. If it is, you pick your dates. Two, three or four weeks in Siem Reap.

No deposit before the call. No pressure on it either.

Honest question. No wrong answer.

If you had four clear weeks. No meetings, no fridge at 10pm, no noise.

What would you actually want to walk away with?

Not what you'd put on Facebook. What you'd want to feel.

By 3pm you've made more food decisions than you can count. Skip breakfast or grab something. Second coffee. What's for lunch. Finish what the kids left.

Each one costs a bit of willpower. And willpower's usually gone by the time you're walking past the servo.

That's the quiet value of structure. One meal, planned, cooked, on a table at a set time. Nothing to decide. Eating less stops being a fight you have to win daily.
