A MESSAGE FROM OUR FOUNDER
When we founded HCST, our ambition was never simply to build a cashew processing factory. We wanted to demonstrate that a business rooted in rural Cambodia could create world-class products while creating meaningful opportunities for the people and communities around us. From the beginning, our vision has been to add value where our cashews are grown, connect Cambodian farmers to global markets, and ensure that our growth contributes to a more inclusive and sustainable future.
We began with a processing capacity of just 100 kg per day. Driven by a bold vision, strong determination, and the dedication of our team, we have grown that capacity one hundredfold—to 10,000 kg per day today.
We did not begin with a large factory or sophisticated machinery. We began with a belief.
We believed that Cambodian cashews could become a premium, high-quality product.
We believed that our farmers and communities could benefit more when greater value is created from what they grow.
And we believed that products made here, in the Kingdom of Cambodia—and especially in Stung Treng Province—could proudly compete in international markets.
For us, success is not measured simply by the number of tonnes of cashews we process or the number of countries we export to. Our success must also be measured by the improvements we help create in farmers’ livelihoods, the opportunities we create for women and young people in rural communities, and Cambodia’s ability to create and retain more value from what our own people grow.
This is why we remain firmly committed to one purpose:
“Harvesting Change for a Sustainable Tomorrow.”
As we reflect on how far we have come, we also recognize that we have never made this journey alone. We would therefore like to express our sincere and heartfelt appreciation to all the partners who have believed in us and walked alongside us throughout our journey.
Our special gratitude goes to USAID and GIZ/CRAS, whose support during our earliest days helped us take our first steps and build the foundation for what HCST has become today. We are equally grateful to UKTP/UK Aid, CAPRED, and the EU-German support programmes for continuing to walk alongside us as we grow, strengthen our capabilities, meet international standards, and connect Cambodian cashews with global markets.
We would also like to express our deep appreciation to the Export Promotion Task Force of the Ministry of Commerce of Cambodia. Their team has consistently provided valuable assistance whenever needed, particularly in navigating legal and regulatory requirements, export procedures, and international market access. Their responsiveness and commitment have given Cambodian exporters like us greater confidence as we take locally produced products beyond our borders.
Our journey is ours, but we have never walked it alone.
To the Ministry of Commerce, our development partners, our farmers, our communities, our local authorities, our customers, and every member of the HCST team who has contributed to this journey: thank you for believing in our vision, standing beside us through our challenges, and continuing to grow with us.
Together, we are not simply processing cashews. We are creating value in Cambodia, building opportunities for our communities, and bringing the quality and potential of Cambodian cashews to the world.
