April is here to remind us to be aware of our ultra processed food intake👍🏻

Ultra processed foods are made for convenience and long shelf life..but are slowly causing health problems like diabetes, heart diseases, high BP, fat gain, fatty liver, depression and more.

Here are some common ultra processed foods we see around:
-Packed chips
-Sugary breakfast cereals
-Instant noodles and cup noodles
-Hot dogs, chicken nuggets
-Frozen pizza
-Fast food
-Custard pudding cups
-Flavoured yogurt
-Candies
-Gummies
-Packed cookies

Lets be aware of these choices..and work on swapping and picking healthy minimally processed, lower jn additives and whole foods as much as possible..comment or DM 👍🏻 if you are ready to be aware of ultra processed foods around you this month✅

Most glucose spikes in Ramadan are not caused by fasting but due to absence of Ramadan care which is:
✔ structured meals - balanced plate with vegetables carbs and proteins👍🏻
✔ glucose monitoring
✔ sufficient hydration..by sipping water, soups, laban, hydrating foods between iftar & suhoor and limiting sugary drinks & caffeine
✔ medication review…Pre-Ramadan medical assessment is needed every year..most importantly the timing of medication or insulin needs to be reviewed.

If you or a loved one is fasting with diabetes, this is a reminder..like share and save for reference👍🏻

🧠 Low glucose
💧 Dehydration
😴 Sleep debt
⏰ natural circadian dip
🥖 weak suhoor

= 4 PM crash

Fixing the above helps lowering the system shutdown🍀

Plus if you have diabetes, check your glucose — tiredness may signal low or high sugar.

✨ Did you low blood glucose chances in cases 7-8 times in fasting for people with type 2 diabetes?

🌸 Every year i come across some common mistakes of diet in fasting in people with diabetes which causes glucose spikes, crashes, tiredness, dehydration…here’s how to avoid them

1. Balanced suhoor

2. Non sugary drinks at iftar.

3. Balanced dinner meal followed by snack if hungry. Understand the emotional hungry and true hunger to avoid overeating.

✨Fasting leads us to better health..the health issues we face are usually due to some habits which can be worked on👍🏻
