Below is a simple diet plan designed to reduce uric acid. It helps control uric acid levels in the blood and prevents gout.
π₯ General Tips
Water: Drink at least 10-12 glasses of water a day. It helps to excrete uric acid through urine.
Lose weight: If you are overweight, losing weight can go a long way in reducing uric acid.
Cut down on sweets: Avoid drinks containing sugar and fructose completely.
π Sample Diet Plan

Morning
One or two glasses of lukewarm water (preferably with a slice of lemon).
Breakfast
Oats, Uppuma (with lots of vegetables), idli or dosa (with sambar).
Lunch
Paddy rice (in small quantities) and lots of toran, olan and kichdi. Get used to buttermilk and water.
Evening
Green tea or black tea. You can eat some walnuts or almonds with it.
Dinner
Wheat chapati (no oil added) with vegetable curry. Eat 2 hours before sleeping.
Low Purine Foods
Fruits: Apples, bananas and grapes are good. Cherries in particular are very effective in reducing uric acid.
Vegetables: Cucumbers, carrots, pumpkins and tomatoes can be included in abundance.
Dairy products: Low-fat milk, yogurt and buttermilk are good.
Eggs: Eating eggs in moderation does not increase purines.
Lemon water: Vitamin C helps reduce uric acid.
β Foods to Avoid (High Purine Foods)
Red Meat: Avoid beef, mutton, pork and beef completely.
Internal Organs: Liver, Kidney, Brain etc.
Sea fish: Mackerel, sardines and shrimp are best avoided by people with gout.
Alcohol: Beer in particular can raise uric acid quickly.
Some vegetables: Cauliflower, Palak spinach and mushroom should be controlled.
