Britain's best solar eclipse in 27 years is set to take place today

The most visible solar eclipse in Britain since 1999 is set to occur this evening (12).

The eclipse will be visible from all parts of the UK, and depending on your location, up to 96 percent of the sun will be covered by the moon.

The peak of the eclipse in Britain is expected to occur between 6.58 pm and 7.15 pm, depending on your location.

Foreign media reports that more than 90 percent of the sun will be covered by the moon in many parts of the UK.

In Devon, Cornwall and the western parts of Pembrokeshire in Wales, between 94 and 96 percent of the sun is expected to be covered.

It is also said that between 92 and 94 percent of the sun will be visible in other parts of Wales, Northern Ireland, the West Midlands and parts of the South West, as well as in western Scotland.

Meanwhile, there has been a huge demand across Britain for special protective glasses used to view the solar eclipse, according to the BBC.

A total solar eclipse can be seen in other parts of Europe, and it is reported that hundreds of thousands of people have gathered to watch it in northern Spain.

A total solar eclipse can also be seen from Russia, Greenland, Iceland and Portugal.

In Spain, the total solar eclipse will be clearly visible in Bilbao, Valencia and Palma, Mallorca, while more than 99 percent of the sun is expected to be covered in the cities of Barcelona and Madrid.

The country's Finance Ministry has predicted that the number of tourists from all over the world will reach 500,000.

However, weather conditions in some parts of Britain may affect the viewing of the solar eclipse.

Clouds may form in some parts of North Wales, Northern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland between 6 and 7 pm, and rain may occur in some parts of western Scotland and northern and western Northern Ireland, according to media reports.

Experts say that during a total solar eclipse, the moon completely covers the sun, causing the area to be briefly darkened.

The next time the sun will be covered to this extent across the British Isles will occur in 2081, and the next total solar eclipse in Britain will be in 2090, foreign media further states.
