The Nervous System Remembers What the Mind Tries to Forget
You may stop thinking about something… but the body may still be responding to it.
This is why some people experience:
• constant tiredness
• chest tightness
• overthinking
• poor sleep
• emotional numbness
• feeling “on edge” without knowing why
The mind can suppress memories.
But the nervous system stores patterns of stress, fear, survival, and emotional overload.
In Ayurveda, prolonged stress can disturb Vata, the dosha connected to movement, the mind, and the nervous system.
When Vata becomes imbalanced, the body may remain in a subtle state of alertness, even after the difficult situation has passed.
This is why healing is not only about “thinking positively” or “moving on.”
The body also needs:
🌿 safety
🌿 grounding
🌿 rest
🌿 emotional release
🌿 supportive human connection
Sometimes people blame themselves for being “too sensitive,” when in reality, their nervous system has simply been carrying too much for too long.
Healing begins when the body no longer feels like it has to survive everything alone.
Have you ever felt physically exhausted even after mentally letting go of something?
