Let's Protect Our Children from all forms of Abuse
● Teaching children about the ownership of their bodies, that their bodies belong to them, from a young age is extremely important for their safety.
● Just as we teach our children to name their eyes, ears, nose, hands, and feet from a young age, it is essential to teach them the correct names for the sexual organs as well. Such as the v***a for girls and p***s for boys. We should familiarize children from a young age with at least the correct terminology or at least by casually referring to the place where we ‘Pee and Poo’.
● Tell the child that their sexual organs or the private parts must be kept covered all the time and that they are to be exposed only when bathing or changing clothes.
● Until the child is capable of washing their body independently, they can only be helped by their mother, father, or a specific trusted adult. Then the child will understand that only those specific adults can wash them.
● It is important to clearly inform the child that it is wrong for anyone to attempt to touch, grab, kiss or squeeze those areas of the body.
● Child should be made aware if for any reason those body parts are touched by someone, without a fear to tell the mother, father, or a trusted adult like grandmother or preschool teacher.
● If the child says that such an incident has occurred, or if you have doubts based on the child's behavior: do not hesitate or ignore, do not isolate the child, investigate the matter, and seek necessary help from health and security services.
● Let's protect our children from sexual and physical abuse!
