🎉 Welcome to the LeBoHA family! 🎉

Lesotho-Boston Health Alliance recently hosted an orientation workshop for 12 newly enrolled Medical and Dental Interns, bringing together our newest cohort to learn about the internship programme, connect with one another, and prepare for the exciting journey ahead.

The orientation was attended by our valued stakeholders from the Ministry of Health and the Lesotho Medical, Dental and Pharmacy Council (LMDPC), whose continued support plays a vital role in shaping the future of healthcare in Lesotho.

With the addition of these 12 interns, LeBoHA has now enrolled and trained a total of 224 Medical and Dental Interns, making this our 16th cohort. This milestone reflects years of commitment to developing skilled, compassionate healthcare professionals dedicated to serving our communities.

We wish our interns success as they begin this important chapter in their careers. 💙

On 22 May 2026, Lesotho-Boston Health Alliance (LeBoHA) proudly commemorated World Family Doctor Day under this year’s theme, “Compassionate Care in a Digital World,” together with the students, teachers, and caregivers of St. Paul School for the Deaf. 🩺🌍

The day was filled with meaningful activities, including health screenings for pupils, teachers, and caregivers, highlighting the importance of promoting health and ensuring healthcare remains accessible and inclusive for everyone.

One of the most impactful moments of the day was a powerful drama performance presented by the students, which shed light on the communication challenges often experienced by members of the deaf community in healthcare settings. The performance sparked meaningful discussions on how digital technology can help bridge communication gaps through real-time translation and multimodal communication, supporting more inclusive care and preserving patient autonomy.

As we continue advancing healthcare through innovation, this commemoration reminded us that compassionate care, dignity, and inclusion remain at the heart of Family Medicine.

We would also like to extend our sincere gratitude to Motebang Hospital for their participation and contribution in making this event a success. Partnerships and collaboration remain essential in strengthening healthcare and serving our communities.

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make the day memorable.

Since 2019, Lesotho-Boston Health Alliance has been actively driving the transformation of Lesotho’s health system through our Dental & Medical Internship Program.

What started as a vision to strengthen healthcare through education and professional development has evolved into measurable impact: over 200 interns trained, empowered, and immersed in real-world clinical practice.

At LeBoHA, we don’t just facilitate internships — we build capacity where it matters most. Through structured mentorship, hands-on experience, and cross-disciplinary collaboration, our program equips future healthcare professionals with the skills, confidence, and exposure needed to deliver quality care.

This is our mission in action:
Building capacity. Strengthening systems. Investing in people.

Because a resilient health system is built by the people within it — and we are proud to be shaping that future, one professional at a time.

LeBoHa Delegation at University of Botswana

Our Lesotho-Boston Health Alliance delegation recently had the privilege of engaging with the University of Botswana ’s Medical School in a knowledge-sharing visit aimed at strengthening systems, exchanging best practices, and exploring meaningful avenues for collaboration.

The delegation was thoughtfully composed of seasoned medical professionals, complemented by a strong supporting team of experts from diverse non-medical fields. This multidisciplinary approach enriched the engagement, allowing for well-rounded discussions that touched not only on clinical excellence, but also on systems, strategy, and sustainable healthcare delivery.

This engagement marks an important step in our continued commitment to improving healthcare delivery and capacity building. By learning from University of Botswana ’s experiences and innovations in medical education and practice, we are better positioned to enhance our own approaches and create lasting impact within our communities.

We are excited about the possibilities that lie ahead and look forward to fostering partnerships that will drive excellence in healthcare and training.
